991 Interior...

I have not seen the car yet in person, but I've seen a lot of pictures.
From those, it appears to me that the sand interior is superior to black. Now that the sand interior isn't a total sandbox like in the 997-- more two-tones, mixture of colors-- it looks richer than the all-black one. Am I right?

I saw the Luxor Beige this weekend and like it a lot better than my Sand Beige. It's a fair bit lighter, but looks better than Sand (imho).

Superior? It all depends on your preference. I've always preferred black interiors.

I think that agate will be a nice alternative to black. Can't wait to see the agate and pebble grey.

I agree on the agate and pebble grey, but it's expensive. What do you guys think about the Platinum Grey for those that want to save some bucks?

Have it in my 12 Cayenne and I love it. Looks great with new interior setups.
Going to get it if I don't go for the Agate/Pebble.

I personally CANNOT stand sand or any kind of beige interior, very ugly IMO. I have always had black interiors but decided it was time for a change my last car purchase and went with red, not for everyone but I am very happy with it.

I would be careful on Agate/Pebble. I thought it looked great too but saw a sample in London and didn't like it. Agate reads brown.

I ordered that as well. It looks like the stitching is a lighter color on the dash to match the lighter seats. I like.

Can't say im a fan of any light colour trim in a sports car but to each his own. Trim colors and combos will also be subjective and are a personal preference...so there is no right/wrong at the end of the day. There are a couple of downside for me with light coloured trims. One is it ages so quickly and gets noticeably dirty quite fast. The other: I recall a Porsche drive day when the 997 came out. There was a variety of P cars with mainly black or dark blue trim and there was one with sand beige. Everyone reported (volunteered without prompting) over lunch how the light colour beige trim made them unable to focus in driving that car as competantly and as quickly as all the other the darker trimmed cars. I found it quite disorientating to drive fast as well and when i was in that car found it hard to keep up with the others. We were all going pretty hard at it. Once back in a dark colured trimmed car i was back as frontrunner. The beige trimmed car felt like it had the same power but you just couldn't seem to get comfortable punting it as hard as the others. It was like your focus was being dulled. It was very strange but the fact everyone reported exactly the same thing indicated there was something it. This is a true story. I actually couldnt wait to get out of the damn thing and back into a darker trimmed car. It was making me queezy after a while. For me a dark coloured trim in a sports car is more in keeping with the very purpose of the vehicle. Just saying.....

I think that the very slight brown tint to the Agate will look pretty nice in a ruby red car. The offset of the pebble will make the interior brigher too.

Hmmm, I like my sand beige. I was my interior color of choice. Black second, brown third. Red and gray not considered, tough I think red looks nice, just too flashy for where I live and my taste. I haven't had any glare issues. Have a sport coupe in black and a DD in gray and cannot tell a diff b/t the three on interior color WRT glare?

It does get dirtier, but the 997 is not a daily for me. If it were, I may have considered black, but in the hot TX sun, maybe not.

Porsche offer a lot of great colours......one for every taste and thats great because it'd be a boring world if we all had the same thing. I've always enjoyed looking at Porsches with fancy contrasting trims and there is something that can add an additional exclusivity of having a different lighter color toned trim inside, but i'm not sure i would remain convinced over the longer term of ownership. Maybe by having a two tone using black on the dash and on the general carpeted areas and using another color for the seats and partial door inserts may eleviate the issue i experienced. Dont know....and not sure if i want to risk it. I usually hold my car for at least 4 years so i cant afford mistakes in trim selections. What i do know is i've definitely experienced it for myself and if you are using the car hard or in a competitive environment at any stage, the dark colours seem to provide a more reassuring and focused feel of the car. On the beige i don't think glare is it as there is really no reflection going on as such.....although that said it is "brighter" on your eyes from within so you are always conscious of that vs the black which drops from your minds eye when you are driving. I did find the lighter colour sure can get to you after a while if youre under any form of pressure. It must be just the lighter ambience in the cabin that phsycologoically tells you "this is a luxo cruiser" so go easy, rather than a hard core sports car....i dont know....but there's definitely something going on there. I wasn't the odd man out on the day so i'm not going crazy. Maybe this is why the GT cars come std with a black interior. Possibly this exercise has already been done and decided on by the sports car/racing boffins? A Porsche to me will always be a sports car so i'll probably stay black or maybe experiment with a dark blue on the inside at one stage.....but that's just my choice so i don't wish to influence anyone away from what they really want here. But it is a point worthy of consideration depending how you plan using the car over the term of ownership.
