No soup for you, GT3 lovers. PDK ONLY.
I have never once said or implied that manual was faster and as far as I know no one else has said it either.
My very simple point is that guys would be a lot less inclined to be whooping it up over PDK when they learn they only saved .3 seconds per lap instead of 3 seconds. A lot less people would pay it any attention and we all know that.
For a whole LOT of people the satisfaction of doing it yourself outweighs .3 seconds.
So the propaganda bit and unbalanced performance measures go to a whole new level if a manufacturer can claim that "hey this new technology is 20 seconds faster than the old". It makes a huge difference in peaking peoples interest.
That cannot be denied. The performance differences have been greatly over exaggerated, especially on the intrawebs.
That's a bit extreme. But to your point though you can't compare the skill level/ excitement in driving a real sequential to driving a PDK (well unless you have the new cup paddle shifters). I would take a real sequential in a hearbeat and now the gap is zero because a real sequential can shift as fast and will also add some engine braking and cornering control to boot over the electronic stuff.

Of course it does, you can get engine braking from an automatic.
But we are talking about race level engine braking. I haven't driven a real sequential on track, but have ridden in one and PDK does not compare. Remember when Porsche was struggling in ALMS and then put the transmission from the RS Spyder into the RSR's and got almost 1 second per lap. PDK isn't in the same ballpark.

Hopefully I don't come across selfish saying this but I would love to see the next gen GT3 be PDK only as I think it would only help to hold or increase the value of the 4.0 RS I recently coughed up the $$$ for. I am intrigued by the new PDK but love manual shifting on the road too much. If Porsche went PDK it would really seal the deal for the 4.0 to become an iconic classic

Is it as good as it seems?

It won't happen though.
the 991PDK is already a big improvement over the 997PDK, which wasn`t bad at all, esp. compared to the rubbish tiptronic.
honestly, apart from the hardcore purists, everyone who is open to the PDK and has driven the 991 with the new/revised PDK, says it is mindboggling, itīs that good! and that trend will continue, it continues to get better and better no doubt!

Recaro Sport Topline's I purchased from Speedware Motorsports in Washington State, using the Recaro shells and covered with cashmere leather to match the cashmere interior. I can use the 6-pt. Schroth's on the track and the factory belts on the steet:

I'm open to PDK, I just don't want it on my track car. I'd buy one for mountain drives and street drives no doubt.
I'm just the reality check in the midst of all the hype. Exposing the propaganda, details and misinformation that gets lost in the shuffle.

I'm looking forward to my first DE with the gt3 seats and harnesses this spring.
But your set-up is just gorgeous.
You'll love the body control afforded by the seat side bolsters and harnesses holding you in place. Thus you'll feel the chassis feedback literally through your glutes.
A big improvement how? Are the objective opinions or is it substantiated by something tangible and measurable?

the downshifts work much better as well, very smooth. and even the auto mode seems to always adjust to the right gear.
it upshifts later, when you step on the gas and you can initiate upshifting and downshifting with your throttle position.
itīs much more refined, or letīs say more clever and less tiring or annoying. try it out!
