Ahhh 997 GTS vs. 991 C2S
I walked into the dealership today to buy a 2011 997 GTS with 6500 miles on it for $96,000. Drove the 991 C2S ($114,000), couldn't get myself to buy the GTS. Drove back home in my Audi...
The leasing numbers only differed $300/month. What should I do? Is the $96,000 a good deal? The sticker was $117,000 but it has 6,500 miles on it. My test drive wasn't very long, but in the corners, the 991 seemed significantly more stable.
What do you guys think? Should I just order a 991 to my specs?

1. Drive them again.
2. Order the 991 to your spec if you decide to go the 991 route.
Many dealers will knock 2-3% off sticker on the 991. That might get you closer to your decision...by $3k-$4k.
If you want my opinion, look at the 3 most recent cars on my signature.

. Simple logic will tell you the difference in price and payments wouldn't warrant buying the older car and in a year or 2 the depreciated value of the 997 would destroy any saving there may have been anyway. Again I'm sure you know that. The other thing is the GTS is used and will continue to look dated against the 991 the more time passes and the more 991's get in the traffic. I think the worst (or should i say best) thing you ever did here was to look and drive the new car. That would ruin anyone against the older car. I mean how could you possibly buy it after that unless it was so much cheaper.....which it will be only months on from now anyway. I recall my bro doing exactly what you are doing now when he bought his first Porsche. He went in with a max figure in mind to buy a fully loaded 996 runout but foolishly looked and drove the 997 against my advice. I told him not to do it as i knew he was on a tight budget at that time. As expected, he phoned me to agonise over how he was going to muster the extra dollars for the 997. The next day he phoned me to tell me how he bought the 997. I laughed.

Yes to sport chrono

$114K seems low for a stock "S", so probable no PDCC which IMO is is must have if you go "S". After a while it will be the main performance option people look for on resale.
$96K is too much for a GTS so at these price points it s no brainer.
I do disagree with the dated look thoughts of the GTS. But thats just my opinion.
Good luck
I asked myself the same question and went for the 991 for all the reasons listed above. Regarding the price, the 997GTS is a great car, but with the 991S being available (with higher performances), they should ask that price for a new one, not a used car, even if it has only 6,000 miles.
As far as the 99S1 goes, you can have PDK, PDCC, SC+& PSE in a $114k car if you skip options like a sunroof or BOSE. I got mine for $116k and it is only missing PDCC (but has the sunroof and BOSE that are not really essential)... but I loved the car I tested so much and it already cornered so flat that I did not see the point of waiting 6 more months -just in case I would have a heart attack next month and never enjoyed the 991-
You can not go wrong with the 991.

I wouldn't say it's a no brainer. Some people will prefer the GTS for legitimate reasons. Choose the one you like best. But I agree that further discount on the GTS may be warranted. The dealer probably has a large incentive from Porsche, plus it's a used car.
I would not forgo sport chrono - It's not just a clock - it gives you much more from dynamic engine mounts, to a sport plus button (which redlines shifts and other remapping things), to launch control...and more - research it. But even if you don't care for these things it might help resale - everyone wants SC.
plus the clock breaks up the dash a bit - they did a good job with the timer-dash integration this go 'round.
It kinda does have a hood.
There are 2 options for base model, one is -10mm as same as the S stardard PASM and the other is -20mm.
