a question regarding the 991 suspension..

I am without any exaggeration dreaming of a Carrera S since 5 years! and now I think I'm ready to own my very first german car! one thing that is getting in the way now...

in the area I live there are lots of badly implemented bumpy roads, luckily theres a very few potholes, but the road itself is done unprofessionally. but at least the highway and downtown is enough to enjoy the ride..

my greatest fear that the undercarriage could be hit with the road itself as the car is low enough to touch them, and thats why I want to know if theres an option for the carrera S to control the ride height and adjust it the way I want? like lift system in the gallardo to avoid hitting the undercarriage..that thing is a MUST..

thank you

No there is no way to raise the ride height. If you don't get the sport suspension option on the 991 S, you would have a 10mm higher ride height than if you did. A base 991 without pasm would be a further 10mm higher.

thanks for the reply

guess I'll have to install an aftermarket lifting system in the end.

Aamersa is right. Go for a base without PASM, it should be high enough for any issues.

Lift system on the 997 where designed to allow for easier curb and speed bump maneuvering at very slow speeds. To lift the car for driving around town is an interesting request. Where are you located?

houston, TX.

and I'm afraid that air suspensions will kill the purpose of this vehicle which is superior handling. so I'm looking for a lifting kit..

What part of Houston? You are more likely to hit a full size cabinet, ladder, or a/c system that has fallen off the back of a Mexicans truck than to hit the bottom fo your car on the road.

I drive a C6Z all over Houston and have never had a problem. I am fairly certain the Z06 has a lower clearance than the 991 does.

I think you will find that the car will be just fine. Front overhang/breakover is the one issue I encountered on the 997, and the overhang is shorter on the 991. Why not take one for a test drive to still your concerns?

These are the 997 numbers, I have yet to get my hands on a 991 manual to get the equivalents:

Carrera and Carrera S
Ground clearance at maximum gross weight: 4.45 in./113 m

With PASM:
Ground clearance at maximum gross weight
911 Carrera: 4.21 in./107 mm
911 Carrera S: 4.33 in./110 mm

With Sports Chassis:
Ground clearance at maximum gross weight 3.94 in./100 mm
