Day 2 with 991-S and it left me stranded!
yea
I spent $130 and had 24 miles on the odometer so my "damn this sucks" ratio is even less favorable. That being said, I totally feel your pain.
I don't know about Dubai or any other world market, but my 2010 Panamera Turbo and my 2012 991S both have Auto Start/Stop features and it is neither mandatory nor requiring turning off. It stays on whatever you put it on. If you want it on all the time it is on all the time. If you want it off all the time it is off all the time. You don't have to choose every time you start the car.

There was a review of the 991 where the same thing happened to the reviewers. I am sorry but I cannot recall which magazine...I probably got a link to the review from here or from rennlist. The car was fine, but was getting fickle with the auto-stop, until it finally left them stranded.
What is really annoying to me is that I hate the start/stop and I leave it off all the time, but I love the sailing feature which is bundled on the same damn toggle switch. I would love a patch or fix for THAT.

Good thing the OP didn't just keep driving in hopes of it clearing up, nothing worse than being stranded with a brand new ride.
Cheers.

I enjoy the zero vibration and silence at stop lights with my hybrid's stop / start feature, just out of curiosity why do you hate the start / stop feature in the 991?

I drive with PSE engaged 90% of the time. When the engine cuts, I find the sudden silence too disruptive. On a side note, I am also not quite through the break-in and being under instructions from the Porsche owners manual to keep the trips longer, with warm-up and warm-down, I don't see how cutting the engine every 100 yards is what I am supposed to be doing right now.
Update
I went to get the car today and I actually spoke to the tech after he performed a road test. He stated that when they originally brought the car in they got a code for a cylinder #1 misfire. They cleared it and it ran fine from Saturday until I went to get it today. I was putting all my stuff back in the car(the car was on and running while I was doing this) and I was about to drive away. I then said to myself, "Maybe I should turn it off and back on, just in case.". Guess what happened next? It didn't start. The tech came back down and hooked up the computer. He believes that it is an injector issue. It may be hung open or something. Whenever we try to start it and it shuts back off, it smells like gas. Like it's running rich.
WHAT A FU**ING DISASTER!!!!!!!!

I am really sorry to hear about this!
Hope it's an anomaly and not something more serious...
Whatever the case, I'd get them to give me a 991 demo while they're figuring it out.
I'd also make a cal to Porsche USA and voice my frustration and concerns as this is an issue which goes beyond the dealer.
Keep us posted
Good luck!

In the glass half full department, at least this time it did it at the dealer and did not leave you stranded. I am sure it is going to something easy to fix - if not, what color would you like to try next!
