Campy the little coved pocket behind the shift **** and switches, it doesn't matter though I too just did the K40 install but I wanted my tech to run my lightning cable from my glovebox to the bottom of the coin pouch or smokers ashtray whatever you want to call it so that I can dock my iphone5 in that stupid little area.

I had to get a replacement and the one worked fine. Just don't want to rip off my front bumper and pay another 300 on installs to ensure a clean job. Thats why this cobra thing seems pretty compelling, no other units just simply one thing to slap on your front dash no bull hanging, and it bluetooths straight to your iphone.

this sounds great....simple,clean, but the reviews are the worst ive ever seen. flat just doesnt work it sounds like.

it is like a cheap version of the escort solo 3, which most reviews are very negative on this 350$ wireless detector

I will ask tomorrow and post now that I know what it is. Sorry for the delay. I am having a fab speed x pipe, black tips and air intake installed tomorrow, so I can ask then.

campy, are you a prior DFI 911 owner? if so, I feel abliged to let you know im not a big fan of how fabspeed's exhaust equipment sounds, its too ricey but you will likely see gains. i'd suggest the PSE or innotech makes an intoxicating kit....

Where did you mount the display and control boxes?
A friend of mine did the 8500 Escort. The remote went in under the ash tray if you have the smokers package. GPS up under the dash, and the radar unit of course in the front underneath and behind the bumper cover.

Neat thing is when you close the ash tray you don see the head unit. And a LED ws put inside the air vent. You can just see it but its out of site in a way its not noticeable.

The head unit goes in the ashtray. The digital array goes in the rear view mirror you need to buy. It's much easier to see.

I have the control unit in the ash tray with flip down lid. The display is down by my right knee. Down far enough that I can see it thru the steering wheel and not in my face at night.

I am testing the new K40 with anti-false filter. Pretty nice so far. May switch.

I have the New K40
I like the New, less false alarms.
I Love the New Blue Led's that you can Dim at night.
I like them right in front of me, through the steering wheel.
