But WHY do you think you need to do this already? The filters can't possibly need changing yet. I would just pay the dealer to do it, it they make a mistake they will fix any damaje, it you make a mistake it is up to you to fix it!

Those are my sentiments exactly. And someone with an owner’s manual needs to check to see when this is due as it might be a long time before this is due- like the minor service. It seems like if you’re going to do it, you might as well do a minor service yourself also.

I've been considering doing this, I've already had much of the interior apart to install radar.....I want to see how every thing looks and works under there.....just morbid curiosity I guess...and a better understanding of everything...

Same here,...I've replaced timing belts on 928s, turbos on 944s, and clutches on everything. Get the workshop manuals and your golden.

The last "serious" repair I needed for a Porsche was a rear strut on a former Cayman S. The dealer replaced the strut (under warranty) and manged to...
  • Completely scratch up the rear red "S" brake caliper.
  • Dinged the rear fender
  • Scratched the rear bumper
  • Ruined a large aluminum piece in the interior.
Needless to say, I don't let dealers do anything unless I have to.

Very cool video. Although I have changed the oil and filter, twice, I do not foresee changing the air filters.

I think the air filters get changed at 40,000 miles, so at least you wouldn't have to do it too often.

I'd take it to the dealer and to satisfy my morbid curiosity, I'd also bring a lawn chair and a 12 pack of cold ones. 6 for me, 6 for the mechanic for letting me watch.
Agree with 19hole.
