Lowering springs / options?

I'm thinking of lowering my C2 w/o PASM, just want to reduce the excesive wheel gap.
I am no expert and not so happy about modding such an expensive car, but this is no sports car ride height.
Is this a good idea?
Any options, advice, sources, pros and cons will be highly appreciated.
Searched a bit in the 997 forum but not sure if the same info applies.
Thanks.

hlee1169 is infamous around these parts
I wonder if you could order the springs of SPASM, which would give you OEM quality parts and warranty.

This is going to be the first Porsche in recent years that i am leaving stock with PASM and PDCC.

I did have ( and still have on my Turbo) the Bilstein Damptronics on my 997S . I also had the Techart springs on my Turbo before I opted for the Bilstein . I have also updated my Turbo with the more modern drop links too .

My suggestion is to really research the pro and con of each system.

It took me a long time to arrive at ... I'm leaving this one stock !!!

Yeah....H&R told me they "might" receive them first week of May and then ship them out a week or so later.....Speedart is currently selling springs, but they are double the cost of what H&R will charge.....I also like that with the H&R springs, the fronts will be .2 inches lower than the rear...IMO this car needs that for the correct stance.

FWIW, my dealer told me it would be $1300 in labor to swap the springs...but they would be the ones I would have do it just for peace of mind.

I've got an order of H&R springs for the 991 on the way from H&R which should hopefully be here real soon.

As soon as they get here, we're going to do an install on our shop car, so i'll post tons of pictures and impressions. Stay tuned...

thats a lot. spring $350 or so..

Labor should be around double that, (700max), it's a VERY simple and straightforward job... you could easily do it yourself with a spring compressor... (dealer just rapes everyone)... with 2 techs.... it's maybe a 3 hour job.

SpeedART is currently selling... but there is nothing in the US yet. I have mine on order for almost a month and I am being told they will be delivered any day. When we dig deeper, we find out that they are still in Germany. The same story has been going on for 3 weeks now
Funny thing, if you check the pic in SpeeDART's catalogue, is that their springs are made by H&R...
BTW, the $1300 are a rip off. About 3 times what an indie would charge. My shop is run by a former Porsche tech from the nearest dealership and I trust him 100%.

I checked with H&R yesterday. My shipment is on the way and is scheduled to arrive May 8th.

BTW, $1300 is a little high for the install, but not that bad really. When you consider the cost of the springs, the 4 -5 hours it takes to install them, and then an alignment, it does add up.

Will do. We've got one of our shop cars lined up for an install the day the springs arrive! Supposed to be on May 8th.
