Longer term 991 owners..
I have never applied the parking brake in my 991, and have almost never applied it in my other automatics. Don't see the issue with the hand brake, frankly i don't even want to know where it is. With the pdk in P, the car is going no where.
Why keep that load on your transmission when you have a parking brake available? The only time I park without the parking brake is when the brakes are very hot from coming off the track.
The reason is that if I apply the parking brake, I rarely remember to disengage it upon driving, I usually realize after I am mobile, leaving the potential for damage that way. But why would there be load on the transmission when I park almost always on flat surfaces, no hill side parking for me here.
2000 mile mark here (hooray)...
Here is my list...
+ Very comfy, rivals my now departed 335i, if not better
+ Sounds great, I do have the PSE, but the car sounds great with it on or off
+ I still have not dropped the car into Sports +, but I do use Sports mode quite a bit and that alone makes a big difference when I want firmer steering and a sportier feel.
+ Effortless driving around town, it's just great and there is no harshness
+ Rock solid, no rattles here, fit and finish is tight
+ Sunroof, I have already used the sunroof in this car more than the last 6 cars I had combined (that had sunroofs)
+ No scrapes. My now departed 997.1 TT scraped every time I took it out. This has only scraped once.
- No backup camera, biggest gripe. No excuse in this price range for a car that isn't the easiest to check behind
- Front and rear sensors are too slow to react/detect objects. Seriously, what's the point?
- No start button, another major peeve. I don't even have the keyless option. But the new key design is such a pita to get in the keyhole. This is one thing I do miss from my 997. There was something almost exciting/satisfying about putting the key in the ignition on the 997. The 991 key design is just terrible imho.
OVERALL: Love it. Great car, first Porsche that I have used as a DD and I couldn't be happier. Well, truth be told, I wish I would have gotten a different color but I still like what I have.

the 991 automatically disengages the parking brake when it moves under power.
I keep my iPhone in the covered console in the center which conveniently enough charges while I conveniently keep my eyes off of it and on the road. If you are driving this car as it should be driven, you probably shouldn't be looking anywhere but the road, and your hands should probably be on the wheel and shifting. My $0.02
The result: iPhone charges (which it could do anyway since there's a plug there), but now I also have it connected to the PCM for music without having to tuck it away in the glove box!
You can leave enough slack in case you need to pull the phone out and leave it on the passenger seat still connected to the cable...
I got a survey from Porsche and after complementing them on the great aspects of the 991 I addressed the key. I told them they already have a button start system in that you don't have to hold the key in the spring loaded position to start it, you just touch the limit so why not keep the key in your pocket like other fine automobiles. If enough of us let them know that we know how easy it would be to put a button where the key switch is and let them know that twisting a key doesn't give us any great "experience", they just may change it in the mid term update.

The sun sometimes reflects off of the silver trim around the PDK shifter. It can be very bright. Also, the climate temp display is not vertical enough. The sun can wash it out. This really is just nit picking. Great car, no rattles.
Agreed on the size of the key. Should be able to make that smaller.

Almost 1K miles. Here are my (minor) complaints:
- key design / lack of push start. (nice red button left of wheel would be nice)
- climate control is too flat and shift lever too close to fan control when in P.
- Exhaust not loud enough even in sport mode.
- OEM brake pad composition still producing way to much dust!
Such a WONDERFUL vehicle overall and engineered so well. I look forward to the next P-car purchase.
