Just Got Here....

Good afternoon everybody and congratulations for the most 991 impressive Forum.

I ordered my 991S two months ago. Production date is November 13th...and I'm flying to Germany for business on that day, unfortunately not for the European delivery....

I have been waiting 34 years for that day in December...

I just wanted to introduce myself. I am Italian, but I have been living in New York for the past eleven years.

Looking to get together with other Porsche enthusiasts, as soon as delivery day comes...

Just one quick question as a starter. Is it safe to assume that I can drive my 991 through the NY winter with Snow tires? The dealer said so....but I am a bit reluctant to believe him...

Thank you

Alessandro

Welcome! Thrilled to have you join us and congrats on your 911! It's a dream machine!

Your dealer is correct but you could always get a set of winter tires and rims. Nicoli on this forum has done so. Cheers and can't wait to see the pics.

What's your configuration like?

You could drive the 991 in NYC most days with winter rubber. Some days with heavy snow maybe not. I will not be putting winter rubber on my 991 in NYC. Will drive in winter but only when no snow on ground. Too much hassle keeping two set of wheels/rubber in NYC.

Thank you everybody for a warm welcome!

Configurations is pretty simple. I purposely ordered it without any sound system, because I personally doubt I would ever listen to any other sound than the boxer...

Carrera S, Dark Blue Metallic with Grey Interior, PDK, Sport steering wheel, sport seats....not much more, besides practical things....Just another question. I ordered the Carbon Fiber Trim for the console, but I can't seem to find any pictures of it. Does the carbon fiber reach all the way to the doors?

Also, I have read all your comments on the PSE. I first ordered it with it, then changed my mind because I considered it loud enough for my own taste.

I believe I can always add it aftermarket at my Porsche dealer...

Thank you again, and I am counting the hours....

Welcome,
The PSE can be switched on and off and yes it can be installed after the fact, but I think it might be slightly more expensive.

No, I am aware that it can be switched on and off, but when I test drove it, I thought the 'sound' was appropriate. Quiet when driving leisurely, and aggressive when pulling the trigger...

And in the end, I opted for the carbon fiber trim, instead of the PSE.

I need to find more pictures of a DBM CS....there aren't enough on the Web....

One thing that my dealer suggested me not to do, was the European delivery, even though I am in Europe every month. He said some cars are getting to the US with some light damage, and although Porsche will fix them, the loss of value would be on me...It's a bummer, since as I said, I am landing in Frankfurt the day after Production Day....

Thank you!

Ale70,
Congratulations on the car. Similar to mine. In terms of carbon fiber, the dash strips are in carbon fiber and so are the door strips. Mine is in the process of having carbon firmer bits added.

Enjoy.

Thank you! Tomorrow it's production day....This next month will be endless, and/or we will definitely get the worst snow storm of the century, when it's ready for pick up...

How many users are from the New York area?

The CF kit only includes the dash strip, gear shifter and the door panel strip. The centre console is a separate option.

Here's a better pic of the centre console in CF.
