How low can you go - temp question

With the stock rubber, is there a temperature cutoff? My Mustang has tires that came with a warning not to drive when it is below 40 degrees F because of the glass transition temperature of the urethane in the summer tires. The roads. Y me are clear. But it is 30 degrees F. I would like to break and not go ice skating into the car in front of me.

Anybody know? Thanks in advance.

991s is infamous around these parts
I've driven mine when the temp is 5F and it's fine on dry roads when driving at normal (posted) speeds and braking gently.

You may get some flatspotting until the tires warm up, but as long as you follow at a safe distance and don't go Ayrton Senna on the streets (no 25mph corners,) you should be fine.

The 40' F applies to virtually all "High Performance" summer tires and especially to the ones that Porsche supplies. Some manufancturers actually specify 42' F.

I drove today w/ the stock Pzeroes in dry 12 degree weather, they did fine, especially when warmed up. Obviously the ride quality was worse than at optimal temps, and I went easy on them as the grip for braking/turning is significantly worse than at 40+. If it was even a smidgen wet or a few scattered flurries, I would not have driven.

Yeah all summer performance tires are terrible below 5 Celsius... to such an extent that if you drive them on cold and slightly damn surfaces it's like floating on black ice!
Unless you like featuring your 911 as the main attraction of Disney on ice.
Oh and that's before the introduction of that white fluffy stuff... I found out the hard way that everything is fine... until it's not.

Get some Michelin winter tires they are awesome, will last 5 years and cost you less than sliding out of control into parked cars at...10mph...

Thank you all. I found you all to be correct. I drove it today. Sunny, very windy, 20 degrees F, and dry. It did fine if you drove conservatively. Sid, I will accept your warning of cold and wet, and the Michelin recommendation.
Be safe out there. And Sid. Any day now! Enjoy. You have been far more patient than I could have been.

Glad you got to enjoy her a bit today!
Winters can be long...
As to my wait... it has given me an opportunity to embrace the local "arts and culture"!

Cheers!
