BOSE radio settings & unrelated PCM question (?)

Been disappointed in the "BOSE Audio Package" for $2400... decided to read the owner's manual to get more familiar with the PCM in general.

With the BOSE, I found activating "Linear" & "AudioPilot" + Surround, in the SOUND/OPTION (page 14 in the PCM manual) made a big difference in the quality - at least for my ears. I'm happier now.

On to my question:

In the NAVI part in the PCM I'm unable to delete a "previous destination".
On page 132 , I followed the instructions to delete and did "delete list" then "delete all"....shows empty in that screen, however it still shows up in the NAVI.

Next on page 135 tried under "deleting a destination" I push the NAVI button & select "stored destinations" and there's supposed to be an "edit" area to go to & then "delete". No "edit " comes up.

Baffled......

I also learned if you press the on/off radio button like you normally would, it only mutes v turning off. I thought it was strange because when I turned the car off & then on again (after thinking I shut the sound off) the radio was back on.

Found if you want to really shut it off, you hold the button for a couple seconds instead of just a quick push.

HotHonda, what type of sound input are you mostly using with the new option setting? I mostly stream Pandora over BT, interested to know if you noticed a quality bump in that quality spectrum.

For the Bose system, you do need to play around with the settings to improve the sound quality.

Ditto on the Bose....

There's a surround sound setting in the menu of the BOSE that really improves it.

+1 on the surrond sound, make sure you select linear to minimize boominess and shift fader to +1 (towards front).

Why do you have fader +1 to front? I experimented and actually like fader on -1 towards back. I sometimes like it on zero too. Since I am sitting so close to the front speakers as it is, I feel I get more of a spatial quality at -1 so I can hear the rear speakers more.

I've been playing around with streaming Pandora over the BT and have been enjoying the improved sound. Only trouble is I've had no luck getting the artist and song name to appear on my screen. Am I missing something or is that just how it is?

HotHonda (or others in here),

Have you guys had any trouble saving the sound settings and having them stay on/off? Specifically, I can never get my system to keep surround sound ON. Every single time I change the setting, it resets back to the "off" position after I cycle the power.

The sound settings are for each individual "source"...SAT, IPOD, etc.

If you are in IPOD and input your settings then go to SAT (or something else) the settings go to whatever was (or wasn't) already preset for that media.

Honestly I haven't gone back and looked at what is set where recently.

One observation though, I've found that in SAT (XM-Sirius) that the talk shows on PBS can be hard for me to hear/understand vs music on BPM or Chill which although compressed seems OK.

Right. I've noticed that each category/source has its own sound settings. My problem, though, is within each source. It simply won't save my "Surround Sound" setting. I'll keep looking into it.

Is this an instance where your setting are saved to key or button, and the car has those settings saved and reverts to them every time? That is, try changing it, and save your key and/or door setting and see if it won't make it stick?

I've tried this multiple times. I set it up with surround sound "on," save the settings to both #1 and #3 (key), and it still reverts back to surround sound being "off" after a power cycle. I'm baffled.

Fader +1 moves staging upfront where it belongs for a more realistic reproduction of recordings which are mixed on two channels for front staging. The rear speakers are used for fill (3 axis dimensionality). From a purist stand point, only the front speakers should be necessary for accurate reproduction of two channel music (who cares about rear seated passengers..)

sorry if this is irrelevant, but did you check and make sure automemory is checked on your pcm settings?
