New 991 damaged at dealership

The C4S Cab that I ordered was damaged during off-loading from the delivery truck - scratches and dents on the driver-side door. Dealer wants to swap the door from another car. I am questioning if the paint will match. Thoughts?

Purchase. I am willing to walk - just annoyed that I will need to wait another 4-5 months.

you can ask them to paint meter the door vs the rest of the car....if it matches then they should take a few K off and it might be worth you taking it.

if it doesnt match I would walk...too expensive to have to answer questions later

Dang that sucks. I say walk and wait, unless you *must* have it right now. Can't believe they didn't even offer a monetary incentive off the bat. At least they are up front about it.

Gutted. If you are savvy - you might be able to get some good coin back and keep the car.

It sounds superficial to be honest. Good luck, hope it works out well for you.

IMHO factory paint jobs are superior to any work done by a body shop. Tell them you want a new car and ask them for money back. If they balk tell them to get the money from the carrier

That's a devastating turn of events to be sure, and I feel for you. I also realize it's easy to dole out advice when it's not your car, so I won't. I will say that you should try and remain as level-headed as possible, as the thought of waiting another few months will definitely be at the forefront of your mind.

The bottom line is this: the 991 is an expensive car and you should be totally happy when you finally do drive one home.

I think you are lucky that the dealership disclosed this to you. I believe that there are some states that allow dealerships to fix a damaged new vehicle without informing the buyer. It wouldn't be the end of the world to swap doors provided that the paint matched appropriately. They would obviously would have to swap the door trim and locks, program the ECU, and provide appropriate documentation. Like buck986 said...I'd expect them to offer some sort of compensation.

Take the car and the compensation. Or, just pick another off the lot for s huge didcount. The car will depreciate like a brick the second you buy it anyway.

Tough decision. Like mentioned above, at least dealership is being up front and honest with you? Is there anything you missed on your original order? Maybe they'll give you a loaner, or a few different loaners while waiting for a new order?

I guess the question is, there may be other damage to the vehicle that may not just show up except for the body...You never know...Tell them to give you 10k off, fix the door and be done with it :-)
