New iPhone 5 Mount & Hardwire Installation

This is a ProClip Console Mount #834878 that is attached to the right side of the console.

Custom-fitted attached is an iPhone 5 KUDA iMega CradleMount #21158 that accepts the Apple Lightening cable. The wire is run underneath the trim panel along passenger side of the console and into the glove box USB port.

It does NOT interfere with the passenger's left leg.

iPhone 5 mount

Cool looking set up! I am just using my iPhone 5 through the bluetooth capability. What additional benefit could I get if I used this type of mounting system?
Thanks, Billco

TTCarrera - nice set up... Given me a few ideas. Can you take a picture of the cable run? I would be interested to see where you ran it.

You want me to take it apart, to show you where I ran the cable?

Really?

Can I try to describe it instead?

See photo below. First, carefully drill a hole in the side of the drop down glove box near the USB jack, just big enough for the Apple Lighting plug to fit through, then plug the other end into the USB jack.

Then, mount your holder & connect the cable.

OK, see the bottom of the ProClip mount? At the horizontal seam where the Agate Gray leather panel overlaps the black vinyl panel? Tuck the wire up in there. Follow it to the right, all the way to the end of the panel, under the dash. Right there, you are 3 inches away from the USB jack in the glove box. Leave enough slack to raise/lower the box so the cable doesn't jam or pinch and then stuff the excess cable up under the seam.

Very simple.

SIGNIFICANTLY improved hi-fidelity on your music. Also, if you use your iPhone to listen to Pandora, Spotify or other streaming content, your iPhone battery will be dead in a couple of hours. With it hardwired, it will be fully charged when you undock it.

We're trying to confirm, but there might be a better cellphone signal if it connects the phone to the car's antennae like BMW's does.

Beautiful clean setup TT. Real nice job. You should probably also include in the DIY section.

Appreciate the commentary. Wasn't too sure how you did it but it makes sense. Again, nice work!!! and thanks...

nice work, nothing beats having one of these battery-eating monsters plugged in and topped off after driving. I just love that. Looks great.

ttc, great solution! i didn't know that a mt compatible version of the proclip had come out, thanks. do you find that the phone can angle enought toward you for easy viewing? i use an android phone whose holder for this system only permits 20degree angulations in any direction. i suspect your imega is about the same constraints, yes?

thanks for the feedback in advance, rep points to you!

Not sure about MT, mine is PDK and it works for both..

I emailed ProClip about 3 months ago and said that it looked like their 991 clip was perfectly positioned to stab the driver in the knee. They suggested I get the British 991 version, the one that stabs the right-handed driver in the knee.

Two weeks ago the emailed to say that they now stock 991 clips for either side and that's what I ordered & got.

Viewing angle is perfect.

both proclip and kuda are both cheap plastic additions to a beautiful console IMO. i gave up, they both were so ugly, better put the phone in the glove box and drive the beast. nicoli does have a nice setup but unfortunately custom one off ........ and i can't drive and watch the iphone screen especially at high speed on winding roads here.

I had no desire for a phone mount until I decided to install a 9500ci with Smartcord live and then really needed the phone where I could see it.
