Painting of calipers (Opinions wanted)

Hey guys!

I am looking for a few suggestions and opinions.

I recently picked up my new '13 911. The only thing I have done to it is tint the windows with 35% ceramic tint, which I love.

The other thing I really want to do is paint the brake calipers, as they are the standard black with Porsche in white. My car is the deep metallic blue with two-tone tan/black interior and the 20" sport techno rims. While I really like the idea of red, I am torn for two reasons. 1) It's not a 911s, thus not having the larger calipers and 2) the red pops so much and I am not really looking for a huge pop of color, rather just something different and lighter than black.

Here are a few of my thoughts:

1) Same color as the car with white or red Porsche lettering. Very small change from the black.

2) A lighter blue, something monochromatic, with white or black lettering.

3) A light grey with white or red lettering.

4) A gun metal grey, again monochromatic from the rims with black/white or red lettering.

Any thoughts, suggestions or comments would be welcome and appreciated.

Thanks!

I know you do not have PCCB but yellow calipers look great on a blue car.
Otherwise, light gray looks like the best option. Just a matter of personal taste...

if you don't like yellow or red, try silver. personally, i don't see the point of changing unless you want the caliper to stand out.

have it done professionally. not some cheap spray kit. even good shop will not replicate the durability of a factory job. which is important since brake fluid is corrosive.

How about keeping them black with red lettering?

I'm biased but I love the way my yellow calipers look against the white. I was in the same boat as you with a base 991. Decided on yellow. Looks very striking against the black wheels.

A difficult choice - did you post pictures - the car sounds great and I love the two tone interior. My choice would be to leave it or go with the darker grey - hides the break dust better. Other than that, I agree with the others - yellow would be a great contrast color. Its good on its own and picks up the yellow in the emblem.

Pictures! And drive in good health!

Not my car, but my vote definitely goes to yellow caliper: here's a pic from the Frankfurt auto show where the 991 was launched...

No color is going to match that int/ext color combination. So you have to go rogue.

- Orange

- Lime Green

- White

Blue:

Another vote for yellow. If your car is this color, this combo looks great.

Hey guys-

Thanks for the feedback and pics! I'm still trying to decide what I want to pull the trigger. Looking to get it done next week. I'll post pics once the deed is done!

My opinion is not to paint it if you have 20 inch wheels. Your brakes will stand out and look tiny. I know because I'm having 20s on my C2 and did consider painting the brakes too. After staring at the size of the brakes, I decided I will wait and upgrade my brakes first.

If you still want to paint it, I vote for yellow. It'll look great with your car combo.
