I respectfully disagree.
Never quite understood the point of "celebrity" endorsers or ambassadors.
Quite frankly it screams desperation and undermines the intelligence of your market.

Do they really think that this will sell a single additional car or raise awareness among all those potential customers who don't know what a Porsche is?

Just my $0.02..

Not all Porsche owners (or potential owners) are petrolheads like we are on the forum.
Look at the markets where Porsche is growing and how the brand is perceived as a sign of personal wealth/success and it makes a lot more sense.
Nothing wrong, the more Porsche sells car and makes money, the better the future sport cars they'll develop.

You mean having Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man along with the "world's most beautiful woman" Gwyneth Paltrow shilling for the Audi R8 won't help sell the car? I'm sure that people that can afford a $175K car will be swayed by those two.

Ah, it is her purse. Nothing like a woman with a small purse.

Ok, got your point. Even if we limit the choice to tennis players...

Love this pic.

This is a marketing move for both Porsche and her; it's not necessarily to sell more cars but to maintain or increase the coolness factor of the brand especially among the younger folks (who will one day have enough money to buy a Porsche), but it also increases the coolness factor for her: she's not being driven around in a Bentley but is driving her own high performance sports car (at least that's the perception). It's really a win-win all around; I see nothing wrong with this.

It is also worth pointing out that she has won the tournament in Stuttgart two years in a row and driven off in a brand new 991 each time.
