Cab top questions

For those of you with cabs, do you normally leave the top up or down overnight? The weather here is 60's and 70's which is perfect for top down driving (at least where I live. So every morning I drop the top when I go to work. Same thing for the way home. Question is, do you leave it down overnight? Does it cause longer term damage to the top if it is left down for long periods of time or does it not matter?

I put mine up and down all the time. I figure in the long run it is cheaper to replace the top then the interior.

I've been putting it up and down probably 3 cycles a day since last September with zero problems, love it!

i always left my (997) top closed to keep it strecthed and taut.

Just use a lint roller and use only water when cleaning as Soap can cause fading.
Also use Ragg Topp cleaner and protector every 1.5yr or so.

If I arrive home with the top down I leave it down (it's in a garage that's secure). No issues. I do the same with the 996 TT Cab and have for 5 years now with no issues.

For top conditioner I use the Porsche product on the TT and will on the 991 before the winter.

I close it when I'm out for the day and stop places, so it goes up and down all the time. I do not have concerns about the number of times it opens or closes per day. Love that I can close and open while driving. I was just wondering if leaving it down for a long time would cause it to wrinkle too much, like leaving it down all night while in the garage. What I like about it is how taut it looks when it's closed and I don't want to ruin that by leaving it down for long periods of time.

I've heard that keeping the top down for multiple days can cause issues with the internal cables. I've got a small issue with one side cable and it did appear after I left the top down for a couple of days. Perhaps just a coincidence though.

I had a 996 cab for 12 years. Put the top up and down all the time. Go to the store put it down get to the store put it up come out of the store put it down. Put it down for entire winter because I had a hard top. When I traded it in on my 997 cab it looked and worked as new as the day I bought it. Why. I would treat it with Porsche cab top dressing once a year and the most important reason, parked in garage at home and parking garage at work. If the sun was out the top was down. I think Sun is the worst enemy of the top.
