MY MODS Part 1
MY MODS Part 1
OK. So finished with all my mods. Not much, but I think it adds a little panache without going over the top. Many thanks to all forum members who "talked me down" from going crazy and ricey. I had posted some ideas I had about adding front spoilers, side skirts, etc. and many here gave back their opinions which was great. Decided that for the most part the members were right, and I needed to maintain the lines of the car -- have it remain a P-Car (Porsche Car) and not a P-Car (Pimp Car)
So, here goes.
1. Got Ferdinand Porsche to autograph my car. Found decals of Ferdinand's autograph and decided it added a little something to the car. Actually got the idea from Mercedes, as they used to have Daimler autograph on their cars.
2. The ****pit. Finally got rid of the blank buttons. Not the absolute best solution, but was able to find model car decals to fill up the buttons. Also, since I do not have a sunroof or cab, I needed to fill up that space a little, so I added the Porsche badge.
3. The Front. Added the Porsche spasm lip and got rid of the "horns". Certainly makes the car look aggressive and is one of the easiest mods.
4. The Side. Went for a little of a retro look here by adding black stone guards. Know this was the look on earlier models, and I think the black blends nicely with the rest of the black accents on the car. Besides, I got sick and tired of using a QTip, toothpick, brush, microfiber cloth, etc to to try to clean the outer edge of the clear stone guard that came with the car. After a drive, would always get that black line along the edge that drove me crazy!
5. The Back. As I said, wanted a little panache without going overboard, so just added a rear carbon fiber diffuser. I think it works nicey. Besides, the back is what most people see when driving.
6. The Key. Thanks to Serge was about to get carbon fiber key trim on ebay for cheap. Now it matches my diffuser!
Can only post 5 pics, so Part 2 pics to follow.

Team - agree, not the best solution, but can't stand seeing the blank buttons. Will keep it until I get tired of it or come up with a better solution.
Cab - got them on ebay, Euromotorspeed. They only advertise for the 997, but just make sure you ask for fitment for the 991. They provide everything you need to put on, and it is simple and fairly easy, keep a blowdryer handy. To remove:

I like the black stone guards. Did you remove the clear guards? The ebay listing details said that "these stone guards are designed to be applied directly over your factory original clear stone guard film", so I was wondering if you applied them directly over the clear guards?
Were these black ones exactly the same size as the clear? Any offset in size (one slightly larger than the other)? Was it easy to match up the placement?

There was some overlap as the clears are larger than the black, but not really that noticeable - I'd say about 1/2 inch or so. I placed the blacks to overlap the front edge of the clears so as to avoid the black dirt lines, so blacks don't reach the front edge of the rear wheel fender, but since the originals are clear, you really don't notice. Here is a better side view.
That's a really atractive *** indeed. I keep finding myself going back to look at those pics. Wish I could see that up close in person. Really thinking of doing that diffuser too, coupled with the Vorsteiner CF deck lid.
