'13 911 4S - stopping and starting

I have had the car for just a few days and today it constantly stopped and restarted when at a very low speed (like going up the driveway) or at an intersection or stoplight. Very unnerving. Wrote my dealer. Keep you posted.

Your solution is in post #45. Porsche knows about it and it is a simple fix.

Contact Louie in service @ (916) 625-8300. They replaced the Crank Angle Sensor.

Update: took my car in and they could not duplicate the problem, no repair. The issue is intermittent so I understood. A few weeks later the car died on me during rush hour on the highway. Would not start, could not push it because I could not get the brake and/or "hold" to turn off (13 C2S MT). After some time it restarted and I drive directly to the dealer so they could see it stopping and restarting. I told them I did not want the car back until they fixed it. If they could not duplicate the problem put the car in their lot and sell it. They had the car a little over a week and replaced the crank position sensor. They also installed a shim which gives me the impression that its a hair off in its normal position. I have had the car back a couple of weeks, so far so good.

If it does resolve the problem I'm good. Cars are so complex these days the odds are that there will be some teething issues. My new 01 Turbo stranded me with 700 miles on it. After it was fixed I then drove it another 11 more years with no probems!

For a while I thought it was that. Then I thought it was outside temp. Turned out it was just an intermittent issue. I'd suggest you give it to the dealer and tell them to not return it until it's fixed. That worked for me.

The flywheel has teeth on it with magnets. The sensor picks up the signal from the flywheel. They think the sensor is sitting to close to these magnets to pick up the signal properly. This is why they installed a spacer. I recommend to anyone having the same issue to video tape it with a phone if possible. If I didn't they would have turned me away because the problem is intermittent. Save yourself the back and forth headache. Wait for the problem to show itself and film it. Good luck.

I'm happy to hear that the problem with your car seems to be resolved. But it is scary when you think about all the crazy electronics and the critical tolerances.
