Cab roof when parked
Cab roof when parked
Any hard and fast rule about a cab roof being left open for long periods of time. I've noticed some wrinkles when I close it but assume they will soften after time.

Mine (first cab, first p car as well) gets heavy top-down use for the commute, but very rarely goes over night with it down. With my level of top-down activity, it's definitely developed some wrinkles in the rear quarter (left and right). I thought this was normal, but maybe not if people are saying theirs come out in a few days? Mine also has some funny grease/lubricant looking marks on the left and right side above the doors. They're nearly identical on both sides, anyone else have that?
I leave the cab top down almost every night in my garage (and the 996 TT Cab roof also). Also, when parked in a decent area I don't put it up, just raise the windows and the windscreen. No wrinkles in either cab top after a few minutes.
Some rules of thumb to be mindful of:
- Don't put down a wet top
- Tops that are always down sometimes get shiny spots where the layers rub against each other during movement of the car (might not aply to the 911 but does to the R8)
- Don't leave the top down for extended periods when not in use
