Ahhhh isn't Brooklyn New York lovely. Driving home the other evening through a busy area of Borough Park with the windows and sunroof open. Thought I saw something come in out of the corner of my eye. Didn't think anything of it. I told my wife I smelled cigarettes. She replied with "it smells like someone is smoking in our car." I turned around only to see a lit cigarette butt burning through the passenger rear seat. Good times. Just wanted to share with you guys!

Buzzm, LOL! I wanted to trust me. I think I drove under an elevated train station. I wasn't going to get out and just start swinging at random people. At the end of the day it's not that bad. Nobody ever sits in the back seat and it's a lease anyways! It's all good. Just be careful fellas of the random lit flying cigarette butt! And to add insult to injury my wife cleverly added "That's why I never drive with my windows or sunroof open." REALLY? THAT'S WHY? Because of the one in a million chance that a rogue burning cigarette butt may come plummeting into the car?
That seriously sucks. In the 997.2 the back seat bottoms are just stuck on with Velcro and can be easily removed and replaced. I took mine out to out my son's car seat in.
Can they be easily removed in the 991?

Me, too.
Amen, brother. I would love to have my wife say that to me.On a more serious note, though - the back seat cushion has to the best (relatively) item to have this happen to (if there is such a thing). Those cushions are so easy to swap out, it isn't even funny.
+1. As I haven't seen them in a 991, I'd speculate it is the same style of cushion on top of the frame.
you can get insurance to cover it.
or a mobile upholstery service can repair that for about $150. they can do a very good job, nearly invisible.
if you want perfection, the seat bottom should just pull out. it's velcro'ed i believe. a shop can recover that piece probably for $250-300.
what a bummer!

Thank you guys so much for all of the insight and recommendations to repair. Truthfully, I don't really care that much to fix it. Yes it bugs me knowing that this happpened but truthfully, I'm just grateful that we didn't park the car in our garage (under our house) and have the car burst into flames and burn down our entire house. I'm happy we found it when we did and it's all good. People can hate, or be spiteful or jealous or whatever. Nothing I can do about that. It's a tiny imperfection. I'm over it! Pretty crazy though.
