Nice... Is the GT3 ride on the bumpy roads that good? Can it replace my CS2 in NYC where the roads are flimsy?

 

The 991 suspension is so supple that most testers think it would be very livable. Having lived happily with a 78 911 SC track oriented car for a very long timeI came close to living with a 997 GT3, but it was just too low. That may be the issue with 991GT3 for NY city use.

 

I agree. I think how low it sits will be the problem. I havent received my 4S with spasm yet but Im a little worried about the ride height with it. I hope I don't regret not getting the GT3 but cant go wrong either way.

 

My C2S has Sport PASM - so it sits 20 mm lower than PASM and I have no problems- so long as I take care on sharply angled driveways. The GT3 would be another 20 mm lower. Your car sits 20 mm higher.

There are differences in feel and ultimate handling, but face it, they all handle so well the differences are useful only at the track by skilled drivers.

 

Those roads looked glass like smooth and I didn't see much in the way of horizontal movement.

 

I always get this SPASM and PASM stuff confused... I was under the impression of the following:

Non PASM/Non SPASM sits 20mm higher than SPASM and 10mm higher than PASM (which is stock on S models)...

but you you stated you sit 20mm lower than PASM ?????

 

I think it goes like this:
- standard non PASM suspension = "stock ride hight"
- PASM =10 mm lower than stock ride hight
- Sport PASM = 20 mm lower that stockride hight ( stiffer spring and roll bar rates)
- GT3 = 30 mm lower than stock, (different lower control arms and other special bits)

 

GT3 does come with an option of a front lift system.....

 

The issue was my confusing post about ride hight. You are right- the lift kit should help preserve the front spoiler in steep driveways.

The OP was concerned about ride quality. Based on my Sport PASM being more supple everywhere on the street that any other Porsche I have owned, even in its stiff setting, I could likely live with the GT3. It looks to be a bargain if one plans frequent tracking. I no longer do, so I limp along at SUV hight in a plain, staid, retracting spoiler automatic shifting C2S in Sport with PSE engaged, thinking how nice one would be.
