2013 vs 2014 C4s
2013 vs 2014 C4s
Does anyone know if a document exists that shows the differences between the two model years? I even called Porsche but they kicked me back to the dealer.
Appreciate the help.
Appreciate the help.
I haven't found anything specifically that documents.. But I have noticed certain options that have been appearing on the configurator tool that didn't exists 7 or 8 months ago when I first started with all this.. I'm not sure if it is directly tied to model year 13 or 14 though.. It seems like new stuff just sorta show's up when it shows up...
I'm sure there are more subtle things that I haven't noticed.. but the GT mirrors are new, LED headlights.. It looks like there are interior colors that disappeared (umber was there in 13 but has disappeared). Supposidly there is a backup cam that was going to be in 14, but won't show up until 15 now because the requirement for it in the US was pushed back..
So far that's what I've noticed...

Was looking at the brochure and I guess I originally downloaded a 2013 and now the 2014 is available.. Some things I have noticed...
1) There are some colors (maybe combinations) that were dropped.. I know umber was dropped, and sand beige (although I'm not sure if that was 12 or 13 it disappeared).
2) Another thing, and maybe I'm confused is that I thought on the C2S's that the standard instruments were white last year (with no cost black option) and the C2's were standard black...
But now it looks like black instruments are standard and white (or red or yellow) instruments cost $800 on both C2's and C2S's.. damn.. and then I have to pay another $500 for white on the Sports chrono..

Was wrong on the colors.. Looks like it has been the same interior colors since 991 was introduced in '12.. Found the 12 and 13 brochures.. sand and umber must have changed with the 991....
it was dropped for MY2013.Regarding the instrument dials, they have always been the same way for the 991. All black for the base models and a grey/silver tach for the S-models. (It's that way on the complete current Porsche line-up).
The changes for MY2014 compared to MY2013 are:
- Rhodium silver (Platinum silver is dropped)
- Saphire blue (Aqua blue is dropped)
- DAB+ Digital Radio (Europe only)
- LED headlights
- Sport Design mirrors (available from week 45)
- Deviated stitching on the Steering wheel
- Sport Design steering wheel in Alcantara
- Seat belt outlet trim in Alcantara
- Luggage net in passenger footwell
- Natural leather two-tone interior Espresso-Cognac

Still confused on the gauges...
When I look at the 2014 (or 2013) brochure in one of the option tables they indicate "Rev counter dial face in black" (option 022) as standard on the Base models and a no cost option on S's.. [I don't know if "rev" refers to "reverse" as back face of the gauge..or "rev".. as in RPM/Tach, however originally I presumed it to refer to the color of the reverse face all of the instrument gauges).
Also note, maybe the white is the same as grey/silver, although it's described as white and looks pretty white to me when I see them. I only mention to differentiate in case I'm confused (lol I agree I'm confused).
But.... in the configurator .. Option 022 seems to refer to the full instrument cluster (for either Base or S).. and this is confirmed by clicking on the "i" which shows all black instruments. Note, this option isn't available for the base in the configurator.. (since presumably it is standard)
If you want white (for either base or S..) it is option XJF.. And it refers to all 5 (actually 4 since one isn't really a gauge) of the instrument. And is confirmed by clicking on the "i", which shows the 4/5 guages in white.. This option causes the price to increase by $860 US... for either base or S..
The brochure hasn't changed in this regard as I checked the 2012 (991), 2013 and 2014 brochures which I have in .pdf format and has the same N/C option shown for the "S"..
I can't however check the configuration, since of course I can't go back to a prior version.. And maybe there is a difference in geographical region or maybe just a bug...
So it would seem that either the configurator has a bug and is indicating an option that should be No cost on the S, or they have changed something recently as to what is or isn't a N/C option on the S..
But maybe it is just the kind of thing where if buy an S... I get white unless I check something else in the configurator. And by checking white when an S... I'm confusing the Configurator..
Which is extra

Umber has been available in the first modelyear. (MY2012) I'm pretty sure about this, because it was my first color of choice, when I seriously started looking for a 991
it was dropped for MY2013.

With all currently available Porsches, the base models get black gauges and the S models get a silver/grey rev counter. Unfortunatly has only the 911 that 022 option to get the rev counter on S-models in black... I have a silver rev counter on my Boxster S and I don't like it.
2014 changes to the Bose Audio Package from 2013. The price decreased from $2420 to $2120. However, the package no longer includes the 6-disc CD/DVD player, but now includes On-Line Services (which was $210 for 2013.)
The 6-disc CD/DVD Player, which replaces the standard in-dash single disc player, is now a separate option for $750.
The 2014 Burmester Audio Package increased from $5010 to $5,290, but keeps the 6-disc CD/DVD player, and also now includes On-Line Services.

Suzy,
Yes, I think we are still trying to describe slightly different things. You seem to be referring only the tach and saying only that comes in white on the "s".. (i.e. only the rev counter dial) and to get that gauge (the tach) in black on an 'S" you must select option 022.. I'm not clear from your comment if you are saying the rest of the "S" gauges are in white or black by default..
Anyway, On the configurator it doesn't describe option 022 as just the tach in black, it indicates all gauges.. and the related options are all gauges in white, red, yellow or luxor..
A subtle but significant difference in what you describe vs what I'm reading is that if it is the way you describe on an "S" if I select option 022 I'll get only the tach in black (other gauges will be white)..
Or it could mean that on an "S" all of the gauages are black except for the Tach, which is white and option 022 is use to also make that gauges black to match the other gauages.
However If it is the way that the configurator describes it, all the gauges are white by default on the S.. and option 022 makes them all black.. (not just the tach).
Thus my confusion. (and I realize I may be making this more complicated than it needs to be..) And my anecdotal observation that on most 991 "S" I've seen, have had white gauges.. [All gauages not just the tach] (so I guess my general assumption is that S's are white and Bases are black) but admittedly I haven't checked the option in this area.. But I am interested because my subjective opinion is the white looks much better than black... and I definitely don't want to get black gauges with a white tach...which would look just weird...
Part of my curiosity is that what you describe as silver/grey makes me wonder if there is something different in Europe as the gauges I've see in cars in North America are really clearly Bright white.. There is really no resemblance to silver/grey it's truly bright white... (pic attached from web site.. which I think is a fair representation of what I've seen in S's).

The base models always have black gauges. The S-models come standard with a silver/grey rev counter dial. On the S Models that rev counter dial can be ordered in black as a non cost option (option 022). I ordered them in black because I think it looks better and the readability of a black tacho is better.

To make it a bit less confusing for you (I hope), I made some screencaps from the 3D configurator to explain:
Base Carrera standard:
Base Carrera option XFJ "Instrument dials in White" $860.00
Carrera S standard (silver rev counter):
Carrera S with option 022 "Instrument dials in black" $ 0.00
Carrera S with option XFJ "Instrument dials in white" $860.00
For your info: these screencaps are from the U.S. configurator, not from a European!

Thank you Suzy for taking the time to clear that up, now I understand.. I didn't think to look at the virtual 3D view, but yep... clear as day it is exactly as you described.
And yes I would agree that is really that silvery/grey tach looks absolutely terrible.. And had I let my order go that way I would have been very unhappy staring at that for the next few years.. So thank you again for straightening me out..
Strangely enough, I've never driven an "S" like that.. I guess it must be common to option it to black or to the full white set..

The rest of the gauges on n S are black by default. Only the rev counter is silver. And they are definitely NOT bright white. That is an option. There is no difference on that part between Europe and U.S.
