PSE base Carrera vs Carrera S
PSE base Carrera vs Carrera S
I'm thinking about adding PSE to my base Carrera ...
I went over to the dealer and got my favorite salesguy to fire up a Carrera S that has it from the factory. He revved it up for me with the PSE off and then with the PSE on, and aside from a few extra pops and crackles coming off revs, to be honest, it didn't sound all that different to me.
My understanding is the Carrera S exhaust has some of the same components that the PSE exhaust replaces on the base Carrera. Has anyone compared the sound of the base Carrera's exhaust with the non-PSE Carrera S exhaust?
I know they are different engines and will sound different, but I'm curious how much the exhaust sound changes on the base Carrera with the PSE. If it's that subtle, I'm not sure it would be worth the $4k to do it.
If anyone has a base Carrera with PSE in the Rhode Island area, I would love to hear it sometime.

I have a base I added the PSE.
The car has to be warmed up before you can hear the difference and the difference is substantial. The PSE also seems to have to break in. I too did not initially hear the difference but I do now.

why not spend a lot less and install an aftermarket exhaust? 4K goes a long way in the aftermarket world for what you will receive in not just the sound but performance too. Just my opinion...cheers!
Compared sound for both Base and S's.. each with and without PSE on... My personal observations were:
Can't tell much difference between S and Non S without PSE
Can't tell much difference between S and Non S with PSE ON
On both S and Non-S... Significant difference with PSE on...
For me getting PSE is no brain if you love the sound of a Porsche engine..

Agreed, seems to be more significant after warm up..
PSE isn't 4K its about 2.9K..
And yeah could save a few bucks, but I really just want it and not have to deal with another installation process.. Already have to get my clear bra..

I want to keep the car factory ... personal preference. And be able to shut it off when the wife is around
Parts for the non-S car are $2900 from the discounting dealers; the rest is labor and taxes. It's $2950 on the sticker on a new car.
