GIAC Software is Now Available For the 991 Carrera S!
Probably forum rules...
All,
The computer must be sent to GIAC directly for the flash. They need it for a few hours then it can be drop shipped back to you or whomever took the computer out of the car for you. If you were coming to our location is Willow Grove, PA we would charge a nominal labor fee to remove the computer and whatever the shipping was to and from GIAC.
The retail price of the flash is $1800.
So if you come to me, you drop the car off, I overnight the computer, they flash it, then send it back to me overnight for reinstallation.
If you are out of state, you could pull the computer yourself, pay us, then I coordinate with you on sending the computer direct to GIAC.
Very simple.
Email is best for me, so hit me up if you have further questions or would like to proceed.

Hope this helps!

Some dealers will support, sell, and install aftermarket parts with great pleasure while others want nothing to do with it and will hassle you for anything done to the car.
The tide has shifted, though. When I first started here 13 years ago, trying to get a dealer to sell your stuff was almost impossible and if you finally found a dealer that was friendly to it, it was like winning the lottery.
Now, dealer employees are more savvy to the real players in the market. They know who the winners and losers are and who makes the best stuff. They know that they can make money on the sale of this stuff, too. So finding a dealer that is forward thinking and has embraced the aftermarket is far more common these days. I even have a few dealers that have specific motorsport departments that only sell aftermarket parts!
Hope that is helpful.
Mike, thanks for the response.
I was under the impression that Porsche GmbH and PCNA have the ultimate say in this matter and not the individual dealers. After all, they are the ones who would honor the factory warranty.
If an issue were to arise, we can safely assume that all fingers would point to me and the turner in question, and any manufacturer would leap through the exit clause, thereby relinquishing all liability.
I am very interested in this particular product, but will need to investigate the ramifications on my rather valuable 7/100 warranty.
Thanks again.

We do have OEM Porsche dealers who carry our products, and as such we are constantly updated as to the status of issues like this. So far, no issues and I don't anticipate any.

The flip side of the coin is that you can purchase the software as part of a power kit from us, and you'll get the peace of mind of our Champion Motorsport warranty, so you don't really have to worry about your factory warranty.

To clarify on some questions, the 991 and 991S software can be purchased through any GIAC dealer. The dealer can coordinate ECU removal and shipping to us. For those local to us (Irvine, CA) feel free to contact me directly and I can work out the details for you.
If you want a clue as to how PCNA would react to a car with an aftermarket tune and blown motor/tranny, do some googling into how Porsche has in recent months aggressively sued and actually bankrupted multiple tuners (of all kinds).
Any 991's in the area that need a flash give us a call.. GMG has been a partner to GIAC for 10 years...
