Thats exactly what my Dad did to me!
Back in 84 when I start driving, all my friends got these beautiful compact European and Japanese cars, but my dad, even though he could afford to buy me a nice car, he got me a HUGE 1969 Chevrolet Malibu coupe, replaced the 350 engine with a small block 283, took the rear seats out, installed a Rollbar, and did a front brake disc conversion.
My car was slooowww, but safe, Haha. I cant remember how many times I slammed that thing due to my lack of responsability by that time.
Drove that ugly boat through all my college years until I graduated, when my old man bought me a brand new E30 M3, What a great man he was...

I was even thinking of having her come to an autocross - it is better to see what you and a car can do - right and wrong, when the only risk is to a cone! Thanks for the great suggestions!
BMW does have a teen performance driving school.

Easier still- put the kid in handcuffs, bag over head and wait until they turn 30.

I may or may not agree but I wouldn't have posted it to the web. The NSA will be sending the FBI over to your house later today

I had a rule with my kids. I'll buy them a car to drive (something old and slow) and I would pay the insurance if:
1. They had a job for at least 15 hours/week and half their paycheck went to save for college.
2. All A's and B's
3. No speeding tickets
4. No accidents.

Result:
Three kids, no speeding tickets, no accidents, all college graduates.
