Road tripping w/911 blog
WHAT ? Do you guys eat in your 991 (or other cars for that matter) ?
Haha that's a funny one. Of course I eat and drink in my car. True, I like to keep things nice and clean but I like to enjoy my cars. I don't worry about the occasional door ding, and when I get my first one it's a celebration! I don't ever have to worry about getting my first door ding on that particular vehicle again... Bing, Wow Done...lol
Anything can be cleaned, fixed or replaced. Every 3 or 4 years, I "refresh" my vehicles and they are just like new again. So since your a passenger in my post, could you please pass the Grey Poupon for my Costco Hot dog...?

Hey Joe,
I too have been following your Blog with enthusiasm and excitement. It is a great time! I too hold a sweet spot for the connection us men only get with a sports car, long pieces of smooth road, and a beautiful women at our side.
How have you and the wife liked the working space for drinking or eating snacks in the car? Is there enough space to carry enough clothes or would one just do laundry occasionally?
I often thought that we might be forced to buy a Panamera so that on long trips we can accumulate more items, presents and other oddities that we just have to purchase.

Don't get the Panamera, if you want the 911. You can live with the lesser space. Then again though, my wife and I may be an exception. We did a 30 day safari (photos) in Africa with 18 pounds each for the whole month. Laundry services are your friend.
PS I only drink non sugar drinks in the car, that have caps. I do not eat in my 911. I do eat in my other vehicles. The car is staying so much cleaner because we haven't eaten in it. It also has kept us from filling up on junk food. We have enjoyed many small eating establishments along the way. The food has been great, and much cheaper than we are accustomed to paying. One full lunch meal was around $13 at a small diner. The meal was delicious, the service was great, so I made an exception and gave the girl a $15 tip. Was still less than we usually pay for our cheapest meals in Dallas. Plus we made a girl in a very poor area, feel very good about herself.
Drove over 550 miles today. Now in Savannah, GA. Almost hit a dear that ran out in front of me. Stopped within 2 feet of hitting what looked to be at least a 12 point buck. I don't know if the Carbon Ceramic brakes stop quicker than the standard brakes or not. All I know, is I am glad for every bit of stopping power I had.
There was a segment in Tennessee where I travelled at 90mph's on the freeway, with about 20 other cars traveling the same speed. My radar detector rarely went off the entire time I was in Tennessee.
Plan for tomorrow is to see Savannah and Tybee Island. We will stay the night tomorrow night on Jekyll Island, then begin our trip back towards Eureka Springs where we plan to arrive on Friday night for the PCA Palooza.
While in Tennessee two different people in different cities asked me what type of car it was. One of those two asked "is that a Toyota?" Neither one meant any insult. They were both young boys in there early 20's, and both were completely enamored with it. I have only seen 911's so far on this trip, on the Tail of the Dragon (3 of them). I have seen approximately 4 Cayennes this trip and about 3 boxters. Just do not seem to be very many Porsches in this part of the country. People really do stare at it. Much more in the last few days, than people do around Dallas.
More to come tomorrow.

Hey Joe welcome to Georgia!!!! I'm in Atlanta and I get to Savannah quite often. Too bad you don't have time to run up to Charleston SC on highway 17 that is a beautiful drive to a beautiful city. Just saying if you have time for a day trip it is worth it. You are right though not a lot of porsches down there. Lot of toyotas.... you should fit right in LOL!!!
Also I wanted to say if you bought a bunch of stuff don't worry about space in the car just ship it home and it will be there waiting for you when you get back. No worries about space at all.
Did you have a opportunity to drive the Foothills Parkway on your way to Pigeon Forge? You chose the perfect time of the year to be driving through the Blue ridge mountains. Just spent three days in that area last week myself driving the mountain roads. As much as you liked the TOD, there are actually even better PCAR roads in that area to explore.
