Another 2014 Corvette Vs. 991 thread...

This past weekend I went to a Corvette Precision Drive day at Palm Beach International Speedway. There were about 40-50 2014 Vettes. All were LT-3 with the z-51 optional performance package.
We took the cars on the road course, thru an autocross setup and a few other exercises. I have to say that the car was very impressive.
As far as the fit and finish, they were surprising excellent. The racing seats were not available on them but the standard seats were very supportive. Honestly I was thinking if these seats fit me snugly (I'm 5'9" and 140 lbs) how are the bigger dudes feeling in them?
I was not impressed with the automatics but the 7 speed manual with rev matching felt Porsche-like. The heads- up display was really good. The interior seems a bit more cozier than the 991. When you think that the whole package (LT-3 with Z51) can be had for $72K, it's quite a deal. All I have say to Porsche is "Watch out, these guys are right on your heels".
I left the track very impressed.

my friend stopped by with his LT-3 last night, i was incredibly impressed with the interior, the full leather looked very nice indeed, seats were very comfortable and driving position felt great. Am seriously considering one.

I agree with your comments about the seats. I have not driven one, but did sit in one at a local dealer, and the standards seats, while very nice, were a little too small for me. I am 6'1" and weigh 200. I guess I could get used to them, but I think Chevy may have gone too far the other way in size of the seats. The entire interior seemed very small to me, even compared to my 997.

I am not bashing the C7, just saying that the seats may be a little small for someone 6' or larger and weighing more than 180.

Pretty much sums up my neighbor who just bought one. Couldn't afford the 911.

I think Chevy is trying to recapture the younger crowd. In Florida there are a zillion Corvettes and the average age of the driver is 70+. All those who longed for a Vette when they were younger now have the money to buy one.

It's funny you mention that the corvette seats are small when are 911 seats are tiny. I for one don't fit in the seats and it's the one thing I don't like about the car. It seems that our seats are more for the smaller guys as my lats don't come anywhere close to fitting and the center of my back hasn't touched the seat since I have owned it. Needles to say I just endure the uncomfortable fit to enjoy this majestic car. I would still like to drive the c7 but they are trill scarce at dealers near me and won't allow test drives.

When I bought my last Ferrari it was offered with small, medium and large seats. I had the small which was perfect for me. Porsche should also have that option for you bigger guys. Funny thing is, usually a German car maker tends to make the normal seat bigger. I have friends who can't fit other sports cars but can so in a Porsche.

Stay off the HGH! Kidding. im a widebody myself and the standard seat backs are a bit narrow, esp on the lats. Interestingly however, my sport seats fit me fine.
