Spare tire options or possibly purchase 20" wheel/tire if it fits in frunk
I have a 2012 991S for over a year and half and I decided it is time to explore my spare tire options again ... especially since there are a lot more 991 owners out there now.
I have posted in the past and it seems the only option I found was for $1295. at Suncoast.

Has anyone come up with any other solution ... Another thought was to get a wheel and tire from tirerack for under $700 and keep in it in the frunk but I don't know if a 20" wheel/tire uninflated would fit.
Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Best option is a plug kit.
Although HRE can make you a skinny spare wheel for a skinny tire that matches the diameter of your rear tires.
Find the tire and then get the wheel made.
Only real concern is getting the offset right to clear the calipers.

I have a spare that was for my 997 (it was from a Boxster) and I believe it was too small ... I still have it and will re-check it but I am pretty sure I exhausted that option when I first got the car.
Thank you to the others for the suggestions, currently I do have a plug kit in the car.
As far as HRE making me a wheel, that is a really interesting idea and I will see if they are able to do so.
The thought of no spare tire alarmed me when I purchased the 991. Now, upon reflection and 18 months of ownership, it's not a big deal. So far, so good and come to think of it, I have not had a tire problem or fl@t (i am not going to even type the word) on any car that I can recall.

It requires a min 7" rim to mount it.
You can get it in a Y speed rated PSS, S-04, V12, so you would not even have to slow down when using it

HRE can build you a spare wheel, for that tire, that can clear the calipers.
I had them make a matching spare, for a car I had before with HRE's on it.
Question is, can it fit in the Frunk or on the Rear Shelf

You would have 27"d and 8.7"w (on a 7" wheel).

I just want to let Porsche know that I would still be driving a Porsche if the new models offer a spare option. This doesn't mean I will not buy one as a weekend car but a spareless daily driver without RFT does not make sense to me
. For the people wiling to spend the $$ why cut cost?
That suncoast option is great but looks horrible and it look like you can't tilt that passenger seat back. There is gotta be a better solution?

Most people don't like their ride quality though, which is why manufactures are reluctant to make them their "standard" tire.
I went the way Rainer did in this post. Bought just the spare wheel and tire from Sunset Porsche in Portland for about 600, then went to auto store to get the rest of the kit that Porsche charges 10x too much for. Although I don't drive in South Africa like Rainer.........it can get pretty desolate traveling in eastern Washington. We have a lot of cougars here, no lions though
