Credit Union vs Dealer Financing

Hi Guys,

My dark blue C2S is finally here. Can't wait to post some pics. I have a loan via my CU for 1.99%. When I told the dealership this, they said that they will match and I should go for financing with Porsche.

What is the better deal? I don't want too many credit inquiries on my report. I just don't want to go thru Porsche and then they turn around and said that they could not offer the 1.99%.

Thanks for all the input.

I haven't financed a purchase through PFS, but I have a lease with them. It sucks they don't have an online site to manage the payment, etc.

For that reason alone, I'd rather go through a credit union if all the financial details are the same.

If all they will do is match it, stay with your CU relationship. If Your dealer will beat it, money is money. Get an all in price with all costs and make sure you compare that to all in from the CU. And, your dealer may not be using Porsche. Mine used Chase. They have been fine. Make sure you know who you are offering.

Good luck and enjoy in good health!

Same here. Totally ridiculous that the only "e" payment is check by phone via western union plus $5 convenience charge.

If I was financing I would uses outside lender assuming apples-to-apples.

If total fees and rates are same, then I would go with PFS. Reason is that sometimes loyalty incentives are offered to previous PFS customers which you obviously wouldn't get with third party financing.

The Dealer does get a kick back for on-house financing. Good customer service should figure into the mix. Considering the posts regarding the inconvenience of payment with PFS, I'd say credit union.

I went with CU... If PFS can get a better rate, I would be surprised but as the saying goes "every day is a school day".

Good luck with the purchase and look forward to seeing the posts.

PFS won't match it, the F&I guy will use one of their lenders and buy that money for for 1.69 and sell it to you for 1.99, why else are they so eager to "match" your rate.

If you have great credit and can put some money down, you can get 0% from PenFed via their car buying service. I did it when it was .9%. Can't beat free money :-)
