'14 C4S Heat Fail (Issue Update)
'14 C4S Heat Fail (Issue Update)
Hey all -- Thought I'd start a new thread to make it easier for those with similar issue to find this, and maybe my experience will help! I've posted a couple questions to similar threads on this topic, but never got a response. Maybe the threads were just too old or something....
Anyways, I finally lost heat altogether (figures it was while out with the wife so she had a LOT to say about that I'll tell ya!) this past Friday night. Tried everything I could, but tons of air volume just zero warmth. I waited til the next day, went for a good drive, and tried again, with same result.
So I stopped by the dealer Saturday, left my car and drove off in a new Cayenne loaner -- Perfect considering we were about to get ANOTHER snow storm. I will share my impressions on the Cayenne, but that's another story altogether. I told the service advisor about what I read-up on from this board, and he noted that in the write-up for the technician.
Jump to today, late afternoon, and I get my C4S back. Yep, it was exactly what others on this board mentioned and I shared with the advisor -- a control valve that regulates hot air to the cabin was caput. I found it interesting that the dealer has seen this problem on other 911's, but not in the range of build dates my car came from (06/13). Anyways, I am very happy it was something I educated myself on before running to the dealer....
For those interested, here's what the Service Job entry reads:
For reference, here are the previous threads that I reviewed prior:
Thanks again to everyone on this Forum for making this such a great enthusiast resource!!!

"Found change over valve for heat regulation failed. Removed rear spoiler and replaced valve."
Part # 7PP-906-283-C Change Over Valve

Thanks for posting this. I read your post out of simple curiosity until I discovered the culprit!!! Another change over valve issue

I recently posted about a failure of the vacuum lines controlling my sport exhaust. After investigation it had turned out that I had (at least) 3 change over valves that had failed. Now check this picture and the part number:

With the exception of the last character (C instead of B), this is the exact same part number. Checking on a part supplier website, I saw a comment saying that 7PP906283C was a new part number for 7PP906283B, so we are in fact talking about the same thing.
I asked my dealership about this last week and they told me that there had been a recall campaign for early 2012 builds. Mine was a late 2012 build and your C4S is a 2014 model year. This basically means that Porsche has an ongoing issue with this part made by Pierburg.
I find it somewhat disturbing as it looks that there is a lingering issue that does not seem to be properly taken care of. Similar change over valves (from the same supplier) are being used by all car makers, and by Porsche on previous models. Why can't they figure this one out

This is actually quite interesting.... I do recall reading your post about the vacuum lines (I am very interested in the AWE exhaust) but hadn't even thought that there would be any relation whatsoever with my issue! But makes a heck of a lot of sense where valve controllers are involved. Now, wonder how many more of these little buggers are under the skin of my beautiful C4S??!
Now at least I know what to look for!
