Passenger mirror drop down in reverse

Just wanted to see if there was any new info. in retrofitting the 991 to have a drop down passenger mirror in reverse.

People have said its not necessary - trust me it is. So much so that what I do is manually lower my passenger mirror when parking (we have nasty raw granite curbs here) and then what do you think happens...

Some time later after I get back in the car and take off - I go to pass (yes on the right) and nearly crash because my side mirror shows pavement in the reflection.
No good - not safe.

Since you need memory seats to have the drop down mirror, I can only presume the module that controls the seat memory controls the drop down? In my 997.2 I had a smart key add on that controlled the mirror and allowed for drop down without memory seats.

Has anyone heard boo about adding or activating this feature in a 991 without memory seats?

Thanks for any help.

Regards,
DRP

I have the memory package and so my passenger side mirror does tilt down in reverse, but I find that it doesn't really tilt low enough to show the curb in the mirror. The tilt down feature actually worked better in my M3. Only thing about the M that's better than the 991, though!

There's a way you can set it wherever you want (can't tilt lower than it's max adjustment though) ..I did mine becuz it didn't drop enough.

Just adjust it while the car is in reverse and the mirror is in the backup position and then save using the memory key function. Do the same when the car is in drive and it will "remember" both settings.

I fixed my tilt-down angle as advised and it's now perfect. Thanks for the tip!

Well, I have the 4-ways seats. I guess that explains why my mirrors don't adjust to view the curb when I put it in reverse. I don't have the memory seats option.

I have however just manually adjusted it, but that is a pain to then readjust. ( I live in Westchester, and have the same granite block curbs as DrSpeed.)

I have 4 way Sports Plus seats and I was able to program using ThinkDiag a way to tilt the side mirror going into reverse. It doesn't automatically tilt, but while it is engaged in reverse, hit the passenger side mirror button, it will then tilt the mirror slightly, and then automatically revert back to normal when you get out of reverse.

I'll try to play around some more to see if I can automatically get it to tilt and I'm looking for a way to make it tilt more because it doesn't tilt low enough to show the parking line of curb. It's at least helpful enough.
