New 991 Owner and Need Advice
I just purchased my first 991 c2s yesterday and wow what a difference from the 993's I have owned and especially the 1983 911 SC.
I have been driving a Panamera 4 and Cayenne for the last 3 years but decided it was time to get sporty again.
I will post pictures soon of my anthracite brown 991 c2s with espresso brown interior.
OK I need advice and yes I searched the forum an now my head hurts.
I don't have sports exhaust but want some more outside noise, burrbles and backfires.
I think I am fine with the car always being louder so not 100% sold on a switch for noise and non-noise.
Question is what should I put under the car that won't void warranty?
The AWE tuning sounds good but only heard it on video clips.
Please tell me exactly what I should get? I don't want anything that is stupid money like Akro.
Please advise and thank you.

Hi Potratz,
Congratulations on your new 991 C2S.
We have the same color car except mine has a black interior. I'm also waiting on an installation of the PSE.
Since your warranty is still live, I don't think you can put anything non-Porsche (or non-OEM) without voiding the warranty. This shouldn't be so bad since the sound of the PSE and the fact that you can switch it on/off are both very good.
If you must have something non-Porsche installed, I would wait until your warranty lapses.
Best regards,
Rick

. I drove one with the PSE and it sounded good but was hoping to get something a little more. I am thinking I will just ignore the warranty and add system. I have a good relationship with my dealer so worst case he will pull the unit off if need be for warranty work. It was also my understanding if you replace anything after the cats you are fine.
Aftermarket exhausts will not void the warranty. Read about the Magneson-Moss act here:

Best bang for your buck is the Sharkwerks 991S race exhaust. $991 plus install. The car sounds ferocious with this as it basically deletes the side mufflers. You can also retrofit just the centre PSE section for all the glorious burbles and backfires amplified by the Sharkwerks pipes!

It depends on the breakdown you have. What makes you think Porsche won't use the aftermarket exhaust excuse? Maybe not for a broken chair, but other exhaust related breakdowns they will. What about ECU?
Personally I love the PSE. First time I had one I installed it and did not wire up the switch, it was on all the time. I don't think I turned on the radio for the first 60 days, I just cracked the window and enjoyed the sound. Now I have a 991S with PSE from the factory. I do like the switch; I turn it on when I want and can go into quiet mode for the neighbors and when I'm on the phone.
I have thought about the Xpipe but I need to hear it in person...
Good luck.

I do have PSE, but I'd be able to live with this system constantly activated, as there is no annoying drone to contend with.
Congratulations on the car.
Just to drive the point home... an aftermarket exhaust doesn't automatically "void" your warranty. You may, however, run into issues if something related to the exhaust system goes bad. For example, the dealer cannot blame a defective instrument cluster, or a bad headlight, on an exhaust modification. They *may* give you a hard time if your problem deals with the exhaust system or ECU codes related to air/fuel management, etc.
Again, though, most aftermarket exhausts (especially after the cats) won't give you any problems. I've taken my 991S in for service with an extremely loud exhaust, and neither my rep nor the technicians ever complained about it.
Now, on the topic of actual exhaust choices...
If you're not interested in having a "valved" system, then you have plenty of choices. You may look into Fabspeed's x-pipe or muffler replacements, CargraphicTS' x-pipes, FVD's mufflers, AWE, AFE, etc. I personally run the more aggressive, valved Cargraphic X-pipe (they have two designs), and the car is extremely loud and drones. It's a good deal louder than other exhaust systems, though.
You're close to CarreraPete... drop him a line like he suggested, or find other members/owners in your area and listen to the systems before pulling the trigger. Chances are high that you'll love a system you hear with your own ears, and you'll be good to go.
Let us know how it all goes.
