Q: Is this a stupid price to pay for just a base carerra?
A: Yes

Q: Also how is the carerra with every day driving?
A:Many here use it as a daily driver and IMO it's perfectly fine for that. However, most folk here would have another car as their daily. I do.

Q: Is the performance enough?
A: Enough for what?

Q:Or should I just wait till I can get a C2S or C4S?
A: If in doubt.... Wait!

If you can find a great deal on a car that has very similar specs, then I think perhaps a small compromise is fine. But in general I agree with the post above.

Gotta love those red seat belts. Need the red gauges too

I think when I get off work and have time I have to look on porsche's website for these cars. I didn't see any of these good values on cars.com.

A 4s with those good options for that low? That is really good. I would compromise a bit for that one.

I started driving porsche and then aston martin flew out the window lol. The porsche is just way better. Plus aston is old untill amg fixes them up but I don't feel like dealing with the dealer or the maintenance like 2000 for torquing an engine after 1000 miles

Speedsterr, if your goal is to make money back on your car and avoid depreciation, then I think it's a bad "investment" to spend $120K on the C2. But I don't think you should look at this as an "investment." It's a car and you need to enjoy driving it (with all of the performance and luxury options that you need in the car in order to enjoy it. I'm sure the C2 is more than enough engine for almost every driving situation. I happen to have gone the opposite route and spec'd a C2S for around $120k. I sacrificed on some of the luxury options (and saved $4k because I drive a stick) but I couldn't come to grips with not spending the extra few dollars for the 50HP. And I'm very happy with the decision I made. But that's the key; you need to be happy. If you've driven a C2 and it does it for you performance wise, then by all means go build the car you want and be happy with it!

I don't look at it as an investment just to be clear. But some decisions are stupid which I gave some examples. Something depreciate like 20k in a year fine. But 40k in a year no way, don't want it. But I am thinking maybe I should just suck it up and get the C2s the way I want it and just hold onto it till i can afford a turbo or something else around the 150-170k price range. I would do manual to save 4k but I can't resist the PDK. Plus I am tired of manuals. Unless it is a lambo diablo or a FGT I don't want to drive a manual car anymore.

The C2 I optioned comes to about 122k so I can get around 8-10k off max. Bringing it down to 112-118k. Now what do people who buy a carerra mostly get? Because I don't need a car that will just plummet like a rock. If it is going to do that then I can get a cheaper one to plummet like a rock. Is this a stupid price to pay for just a base carerra?

Since I know with porsche the best value is to just get the biggest engine you can afford and stick with that. I am not asking the question so much as a oh every car depreciates kinda question but is this like a stupid amount. For example I could option a v6 panamera to 180k if I wanted to and THAT would be a stupid amount to pay for a v6. Thats kinda where I am heading with this question.

Also how is the carerra with every day driving? Is the performance enough? Or should I just wait till I can get a C2S or C4S?

If you want to pay circa 122K...go for the C2S...I have a '13 C2S cab retailed 130K and love it. all performance options except Sport exhaust and Burmeister

How could you not get sport exhaust? How did you get yours only for 130k? Did you only select performance and nothing else?

Consider buying pre-owned let the first owner take the big depreciation hit. That's what I did recently. Bought a base 991 Cab with an MSRP of $109 for $80K.

C2S with same options is 135k. Again MSRP is 122k but I could get it for 112-114k. And I am non negotiable on all the performance options. If I get rid of sunroof and drop down to bi xenon it comes to aound 118k MSRP so I could get for 110k-112k. But this is very good feedback. So far it seems to consensus is this would be a stupid purchase decision lol.

This will be a sick build. No one can legitimately call this stupid. It's a matter of personal preference, pure and simple. At 112-114K, that's a solid discount and you will have exactly what you want. That is, of course, unless you really want a C2S, in which case, I'd just be a little more patient and wait until you can swing the S version.

I'm with Jeff. I found a barely used 2012 base cab with lots of great options for less than $90k. Sticker was $115. That's about $27k off msrp for the first 7 thousand miles. THAT'S worth considering. Let's say the first owner got $5k off msrp. Paid $110. Drove it 7k miles and turned it in for, what, $82k maybe? That's nearly a thirty thousand dollar loss. Ouch.

Something to think about.

Alec

Temporary insanity? Momentary lapse of reason? Won't make that mistake again but was trying to at least partially contain cost. I went full leather, 18 way seats, PDCC, sport chrono, PTV, bose, premium pkg plus, etc. next time will get PSE, burmeister.
