Nope, I think it has a cheezy 70's look.. I respect others admiration for it, and to each his own... but it makes me cringe when I see it..

what goes around comes around

the under 35 crowd loves the " cool " plastic furniture and Dutra-designed Palm Springs mid century architecture and hipster fedora look so popularized by the Sinatra Rat Pack generation of our hoplessless " square " post -war parents who are now mostly deceased

what YOU think fashionable will in 20 years to those not born yet be embarrassing , and so it goes!

the 911 has been the ultimate persistent cheesy car to many who have been around for many decades, who are not enthusiasts like us who have studied every nuanced update for 5 decades and saw the first Targa as a new model , as it has not been allowed to change its silhouette for 50 years , so to them it looks like an ancient car marketwise caught in a mandated time warp ,like a Morgan

( dont even get me going about the current trend that is fading as quickly as it started for obvious reasons ...guys in thir mid twenties with full Civil War era beards that age them about ... 50 yrs!... so attractive to hot chicks on the dating scene I'm sure !)

I may not be the most neutral on this one

But having never seen one in person or driven one personally, I can't fully judge the car. Reviewers that have seen and driven the car seem to by in large like it, looks wise and you can argue performance is not on par by tenths but thats not the point of a cab or targa anyway.

My dealer will have one in a couple of weeks so I am looking forward to doing a first hand review.

Who knows I may change my mind and get a coupe with a "cheesy" ducktail or wood trim!!

I owned a 1988 Carrera 3.2 Targa brand new. I have to say its accordion style roof was a ***** if you were in a rush. It was also noisy as heck. But it was black and with black Fuchs alloys it looked great.

Think of the new Targa as a collapsible hardtop convertible like the 328 convertible. I owned this car also and it basically was a coupe in all ways but just a bit heavier. Sound like the new Targa? Quiet top up cruising or wind in your hair top down fun.

I think the new Targa is a nice evolution of the original concept. Although it would be nice if the bar was in black also 😄
