Replacing non fucntional steering wheel with multi function wheel

Hoping to change out a basic steering wheel with a multi function steering wheel on my 2014 991. Suncoast Parts makes it sound pretty simple. According to their web site the dealer will need to "active" when replacing a non fuctional with a multi functional wheel.

Anyone have experience with the change and anything else I should know before i seriously consider this.

Thanks for your input.

My dealer told me that it was a major pain.
The stalk would have to be removed from the steering column and the wires would be fed to your MF steering.

Due to the fact that the stalk has no volume controls, he wasn't even sure if the MF conversion was going to have full functionality.

He was not aware of anyone having done this swap in the past and I wasn't about to become the proverbial guinea-pig.

If the wiring harness is the same and there is full functionality, I would imagine that it's possible..

Thanks much. I sort of expected to hear that. Just sounded too easy and just didnt seem to make sense that it would be so easy.

I had a non multi function wheel (only the tiptronic buttons) and swapped for the sport design wheel with paddles. Was an easy swap and the best decision I ever made, hands down - fun factor increased infinitely!

But didn't you lose the lit indicators for "Sport" and "Sport Plus" that are integrated into the stock wheel (the one with the "buttons")? I thought the sport design wheel with paddles did NOT have the display unit on the top of the hub?

The sport design wheel DOES display the "Sport" and "Sport Plus" just that it does it in the left spoke - no separate display unit on top of the wheel - so no problem, it's there (including "launch control" btw).

Ahhh... OK! I never noticed the display in the SD wheel spoke! Thanks.

Also never saw the "Launch Control" light-up in the cluster before as I haven't gotten that adventurous yet!

Not sure why you'd want to do this. I have the MF wheel and hardly ever use the controls on it (besides the settings-which are set and forget). Everything you need is in reach through the ***** and buttons on the PCM...

Just one mans opinion (for whatever that's worth).

Good luck!
