Brakes squeak

991 C2S cabrio 14k miles
lately the brakes squeak like my father's old station wagon. Service at Paul Miller said they "deglazed" my brakes and that I could accomplish the same by repeated vigorous application of the brakes. Have any of you had a similar issue. The squeaking is so bad that I would (almost) rather hit the car in front of me than embarrass myself squealing to a stop. didn't have this issue with prior 911s(993 and 996)

Yes the boxster S has this same problem. And again the dealer does the same "deglazing" or refinishing or whatever none sense they want to call it.

Find a good clear road, drive it up to 80mph, hit the brakes HARD=deglazed.

There have been threads on this before and several/many others have had it (me included). I tried the hard braking stuff a couple of times but that didn't do anything. I never could connect it to rain or driving through wet areas. Thankfully it finally went away on its own.

thanks

Now I have a reason why I drive fast and hit the brakes hard. Since I can claim its vehicle maintenance maybe my wife will stop complaining.

Same problem with my wife's Cayenne, our mechanic said the same thing. It's so bad my wife want to sell the car.

I think you are trying to describe a bedding in procedure.
That is actually coating pad material on the brake rotors.
It takes a bit of heat to accomplish that, so plan on multiple hard stops.
I would say about 6++ (in rapid succession) or until you experience some fade.
Slow to below 50 (slower if you can do so safely), but don't completely stop, until you cool the brakes down.

I don't think there is a way to deglaze brakes, outside of turning them.
Glazing is a sign of thermal abuse, so those of you with light braking habits don't have glazing.

My ex had a 600SL, same problem. Told her how to resolve the problem. Took the car to 160, hit brakes, no problem

I had the squealing problem on my 987 from time to time. The braking hard does nothing to fix it. Again, mine kind of just went away on their own.

I had a squeak. It's gone now. PCNA replaced the brakes and rotors on my C2 with a new type pad.
