Over rev. cutoff on the PDK

I have noticed that at times the PDK allows over revs. while in auto mode. Yesterday while in manual I pushed first gear to far and the cut off point was engaged at 8200 rpm's. I think it abruptly drops down to idle speed. It would be better to just hold the line at 7600 or 7400 rpm's rather than allow the over revs. and then drop down to idle.Does anyone know why it works this way. I have vowed to never let this happen again. When making a turn in manual mode after a stop i fumble for the paddle if I have to drop my hand down on the wheel to make a sharp turn. The motor is so smooth I think I have a practical reason for a more aggressive exhaust because I am having a hard time hearing the redline threshold. I would like to set up a warning on the computer that would generate a 7000 RPM's alert similar to the speed alerts. This is my first porsche, I have never owned a car that revs. so freely. Next time I will use sport plus in this situation so I can keep both hands on the wheel. I do realize this is a short coming of the DRIVER.

I have hit the rev limiter but did not drop to idle speed after, I am not sure what it dropped to, but I was still under power and the shift was almost immediate.

Same. I wouldn't think that PDK would even allow an over-rev.

I think you mean that while using the PDK in manual mode you overr'd the engine and hit the cutout. I have done this and also wished it had a protect mode where it just held prior to the cutout. Part of why I say this is that not only would it be convenient but in regular mode (non-sport or sport+) the shift is slower so while I shift below the cutout by the time the car mechanically makes the shift it can be after the cutout. I have never seen the car hit the cutout in full auto mode.

I've noticed the same problem. I usually manually shift it up there a little early since a couple hundred RPM aren't going to make any difference.

I was doing some spirited driving over the weekend, lots of WOT in Sport+ and it happened a few times to me too. It's almost like a lag for a split second and then it upshifts. All happens really fast but still annoying. I'm still getting use to the car so I'm hoping to fix my shift points, but it all happens so fast at WOT

This happened to me all of the time in my c63, but that had a slush box.
I felt like the PDK was more lagging than usual, could lots of aggressive driving effect the response of the shifting. Neve noticed this before, warmer weather?

True but it is so much fun to wind it out completely

Yes it hit 8200 rpms, it is hard to look down and see the dial. Wonder why it does not kick in at redline instead.I assume 8200 is not severe enough to cause damage if you don't make a habit of it.
