Seven Seas Highway - Arrival 5/10/14 - RI

Anyone else have a car on this vessel? Have you been able to get any information from your dealer as to delivery?

HA! You're going to make yourself bonkers watching the ship track! But what's really going to kill you is that the cars sit on the dock for several days before they're loaded out on the transporters to the dealerships. It will be worse than waiting for Christmas morning when you were 6 years old....

A huge shipment of Macans is coming through right now too which is slowing down port checks. Dealers all want their Macans at the same time and it's right now. Let us know when you hear more.

Next year, rumor has it, Porsche will have in the configurator an option called - The Pre-Delivery Experience for just $ 4,650. You show up at the Port of Entry when the ship is within 100 miles of shore and they helicopter you out to see your new car in the hold. They supply you with a "Porsche" brand sleeping bag and you get to overnight beside your new ride as the ship comes into port. When its time to drive it off the ship, YOU get to sit in the passenger side and go down the ramp in it. Then its back home to wait for your car to get to the dealer.

That is great - sign me up. I will need to order a new car just so I can have the experience. One question Do I get to keep the sleeping bag?

I just wish I had some information. I know the SSH made it's port call last Saturday and is already about to make it's next in TX. I guess I just expected the information to be pushed to me, rather than me having to constantly inquire and follow up.

That's pretty awesome on the vessel experience, although I'm not certain I'd be in at that price point.

Still awaiting the arrival of my C2S. Has anyone taken delivery that rode along my 991?

Just amazes me that a car could sit at the port for almost 3 weeks, 200 or so miles from destination. I'm already looking at exhausts and intakes for my car that I've never driven! Ha!

This sucks, and pretty ridiculous that the dealer hasn't responded to you or been able to shed any light on the cause(s) of the delay and anticipated delivery timing.

Thanks eg, and I completely agree. Still no communication (as promised) on what is holding things up, or when I can expect delivery, despite my call yesterday expressing my frustration. I guess that's one of the cons of ordering a car built to spec, as they know they have a captive customer.

Oh well, off to OH to golf with some buds for the weekend. Hopefully it'll keep my mind off things!

Maybe they are trying to get the Macan's off the boat. But ya, probably a customs thing or maybe its in the shop over there. They tend to fix things over there that might have occurred on the boat. Plus, they need to put the window sticker on it.
