price for installation of springs

Just curious what the going rate is for installtion of springs? I got quoted a day and half including alignment, $1,700. I thought this is an easier install maybe 4-5 hours plus alignment.

I would have guessed $500-750. But there are a lot of depends... Your setup, as well as what market you are in May make a diff.

With the right tools (spring compression) it is a DIY for the more "handy" of us. I have yet to attempt on my 991. I've done it on other cars (M3) and didn't take a day. Also you may not need an alignment afterwards depending on the spring application (definitely should check tho!), drop, and whatever else you are doing to car suspension. Also, not sure if difference on S-PASM vs PASM equipped cars.... But guessing that has more to do with damping than spring rates.
I am sure others can quote recent prices. Good luck!

Your numbers are consistent with my experience. It seems straightforward to me.

I've not done it on my 991 (and don't intend to) but I can do a set of springs on most cars in half a day, about 1 hour per corner +/-. Some are harder than others. I do have air impact tools and a proper clamshell spring compressor though, so that really speeds up the time.

Give Chris Coulter a call at http://www.cohoauto.com since you are in N.VA. I've known Chris for years (he's a Porsche / BMW guy) and he runs a clean shop with reasonable prices. See what he would charge you. He just mounted my HRE's for me a few weeks ago and has state of the art equipment in the shop including a pretty hot alignment machine.

What was the price breakdown, of you don't mind me asking? Must be the alignment getting you up to $1k.

Thanks for sharing!

6 hours of tech time + $150 for alignment. I guess the rate is about $130/hour which is comparable to a dealership. I am considering doing it myself with a friend and then just having it aligned. I can put the savings towards and exhaust.

If you decide to tackle it yourself, I have some proper USA-made clamshell spring compressors you can borrow for the project (I'm in Alexandria VA), don't use those $ 20 cheap Chinese ones on EBAY because if one of those castings break when the spring is compressed you can wind up in the E.R.
