4-Piston to 6-Piston
4-Piston to 6-Piston
Hi all
As usual I do a lot of "window shopping" and recently I am looking for a front brake upgrade that is decently priced (the Brembo's and Rotora's are EXPENSIVE) .
It's more a cosmetic upgrade as I would NEVER track my car (maybe when its atleast 2-3 yrs old).
I came upon this on Suncoast Parts and emailed them to know what parts are required and such, but wanted to ask you guys for advice too:
http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...91BASEBRAKESUP
My main questions are:
1- bolts-on replacement?
2- will the pad sensors need to be replaced?
3- will I need any software updates for that?
4- any thing worth mentioning?
Awaiting your input guys

Perhaps, I should have said, "I would save my money instead of purchasing that product"
Personal taste and preference bears upon the selection of every option and version of the 991. The S has 6 pot front and 4 pot rear brakes. The C2 has 4 pot front and I believe the same 4 pot rears.
If increased braking efficiency and stopping power is not the goal, if I were inclined to have red calipers instead of the lowly black brakes that adorn my C2, I would have the brakes removed, professionally painted with red high temp paint and affix PORSCHE decals.
a. Stopping is a real important thing for me.
b. I would not want to screw with the braking dynamics engineered by those who actually know what they are doing.
c. If I were tracking the car I would have purchased yellow carbon brakes;
d. If I were tracking the car I would have purchased a turbo;
for me, and me alone, spending $1895 for something that I, in my own opinion I do not need, would be a waste.
Feel free to spend your money.....

True I could spend that money somewhere else.
But I don't like how small my brakes look
so I'm looking for an upgrade...
I think it would be a nice upgrade. Obviously not much of a return on $ come resale, but if it makes you happy go for it.
What color would you do the rear rotors then? Match the new fronts?

Yeah, it's either match them OR go for a color to break in the background (something noticeable yet classy)
I heard Girodisk had a kit with larger rotors that uses a spacer under the caliper.
If so, that would be a good option.
or
Make your already big brakes look bigger by getting some nice 3 piece wheels, with wide *** tires on them.
To your other questions, it looked like Suncoast was selling the S front brakes.
I would bet that is a straight bolt on with everything you need included.
Points to you if you do it but paint the front calipers black to match the rears.
I think the black calipers look way better.

If it was a configurator option, I would get it.
