First Porsche Build
First Porsche Build
Hello,
My name is Jeff and I am getting ready to put down a deposit on my first Porsche. I’m currently driving a BMW Z4 35is, and it only took about 10 seconds of driving the 911 to convince me that I need to upgrade.
I’m a bit overwhelmed at configuring the car. Configuring the BMW was a breeze as it comes fully loaded in Canada, there were no options to choose aside from the color and extended leather.
Please take a look at this and let me know what you guys think. The prices might seem a bit high as a Canadian car is slightly more expensive than a US one. I’m will be buying the car so the plan is to keep it for many years.

Welcome. Looks like a great build to me.
1) I don't have much experience with Alcantara, other than enjoying it in a friend's older M5. I can only say that Alcantara will give you a sportier/lighter feel on the interior, while leather will probably be a better choice if you're looking for the complete, luxurious interior feel.
2) Personal preference. The LED system has the illuminated ring around the entire headlight enclosure with the four "dots" surrounding it.
3) I'd go for the 14-way power sports seats at a minimum. I've sat in 911s with the 4-way manual seats, and it isn't pleasant. Many people swear by the difference in the 14 vs 18-way seats, but I think 18-way is overkill.
4) Bose.
Enjoy!

I'm getting 14 way seats, the 18 way felt cramped to me at 200 -210 pounds. Also, its an adjust it till it feels right feels right and then rarely move it again, type situation for many people. I change the position of my steering wheel more often then the seats in my Mini.

I like the look of the alcantra, but as I mentioned above I plan to keep the car for a while, and I'm unsure how it would hold up. If I was doing a three year lease I would go for the alcantara. There is also the $4k up charge that is directing me towards the leather interior.
On the LED's I guess the question is it worth the extra $1600. I'm actually leaning towards adding them.
Agreed on the seats. I sat in both and they were both very comfortable and secure.
On the online build options, they have PASM an an option, even though it comes with it. A mistake obviously.
The Sport Design and Aerokit Cup packages are also options for $2K and $3K. I assume that's only to add the rear duck spoiler and duck/wing spoiler? The Sport Design bumper comes with it.
Listed as standard:
SportDesign front fascia with body colored spoiler lip
Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with ride height lowered by 10 mm (0.39 in.)
Four-pass multi-flow sport exhaust system with valve control and 2 twin-tube tailpipes in black chrome-plated stainless steel
SPORT button
Sport Chrono Package with dynamic engine mounts and SPORT PLUS button

Kind of nice to have all of these. People pretty much expect a rear camera on all cars now:
ParkAssist (Front and Rear) with Reversing Camera
If the LED headlights now come in a black version, I would do them. Up to now, they've only been available in silver.
I'm excited about this car and I'm not even the one ordering it!

And yes, the rest is personal preference, but do make sure to opt for 14-way as a minimum!

More controversial get the PDK with the sport steering wheel and paddles. This car is designed around the PDK, the manual is there for the dinasours.
very simalar to the 430, it was designed around the F1 but some die hards had to have a manual. You will love it!
A pic of the Alcantara in my old Cayenne GTS. Look at the drivers seat! I kept this thing mint! You can't keep it looking uniform. Never again.
Talking to dealers, on the new Cayenne GTS they're all ordering them with full leather. The Alcantara is a dud and they don't sell.
Looks like it will be very nice no matter what you do,
I would stick with leather and 14 way seats at a minimum, maybe even look into the 18 way. I have the 14 way and later found that I could get more comfortable with the 18 way seats, but I am over 220 so adjustability is a must.

I would skip the Bose, voice control, multi functional steering wheel, head light cleaning. Build it to be a bad *** sports car, build it light and for performance. Heck, I would skip the sunroof as well. Also the platinum satin wheels look great on any color.

If I track it once a year that will be a lot.
Thanks again.
I don't really understand some of the responses to this thread, so I'll just address myself to the original post.
First off, congrats!
Second, super-extra congrats on ordering a proper manual transmission!
Thirdly, if you're looking to save money at all, I would suggest that the sunroof may be a good place to save that money. I ordered my car without it, and I don't miss it a bit. I don't care for the looks of the glass, they don't open very far and IMHO it looks kind of dorky when open.
I'm not sure about Canada, but it's probably like the USA in that there is a limit to how bright the lights can be. That's regardless of LED or Xenon, so you don't gain much of anything with the LED unless you like that square looking thing.
Otherwise, your build looks good. Now, me personally, I don't care for the Bose system in the 911 so I saved money there too (I didn't think the Burmester was worth the coin) but if you like it, then that's OK. With all of the road noise that these cars make, if I'm traveling on anything other than a perfect road, I can't hear the radio anyway and I just turn it off.
I also skipped the multifunction steering wheel and headcrest but if that's something you like, they are relatively inexpensive.
Now... on the carbon interior. Have you considered also getting the carbon steering wheel? It looks really nice if you've also got the carbon trim and it feels good too.
