I took car to dealership its been raining for the past two days, but my windshield is perfect, I picked up my car later during the day and as I'm driving I noticed on my side this hair line and chip , it wasnt there ib the morning and also to get a chip like that from a rock you can hear the rock when hits your windshield, so what you guys would do, suck it up and have insurance or get the Dealer involved ?

That happened to me and I had it filled for 75 bucks. You'll still be able to see the repair but it's better then paying for a new windshield. The car was also leased at the time so I wasn't as concerned.

I'm not sure if it's worth going through insurance for the cost of your deductible. Also does the policy include glass?

I think my deductible is $100 but also when I had farmers it was free
I'm with geico now not sure whats the policy or repair.

Is it ok to drive or better wait and have that fixed??

I'm sure it's fine to drive. I'd make an appointment and get it repaired sooner than later. I hope they can just fill, it does look like a slight crack which may mean a replacement. It's already done and I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Sucks but sh@t happens.

Are you thinking that this happened while the dealer had the car? That is how your op reads. If so, I would definitely ask the service department if they took it out for a test drive and whether or not the tester heard anything. I would relate to them that the chip wasn't there when you brought it in and it was there when you picked it up.

In any case I would call a good windshield replacement / repair company and ask them to take a look at it and give you their recommendation. Looks like it might be able to be filled but they will know.

That my two cents worth.....

If you think the dealer is responsible, go back to the dealer and have them repair it. If they are into customer care, they will just get it fixed with filler. In any case, you need to get that fixed or that crack will spread.

In my experience, when driving through rain, the impact noise of a stone on the windshield is muffled and might be missed.

Well glass should be covered 100% in most states as it is a safety issue. What did your car go in for? That looks like a scratch and a rock chip. Looks do deep do be just a crack. I just switched to Geico also, they seem to be fairly good so far. Geico was certainly cheaper (30%) than my old insurance company who I was with for 22 years without an accident.

No matter what you do, go ahead and have it repaired with the resin filler sooner rather than later. Because of where it's located, it will spread all the way across the windshield and then you're looking at replacement, which can bring on more issues.

It's a windshield - get it replaced as it will spread. Aside from that, I agree with the above re driving in the rain. It is harder to hear anything hit the window when the rain is coming down and the wipers are on.

it could have been the rain but the weird part, that morning I didn't noticed anything it was after I picked up the car and I started driving that I noticed something on my windshield it was the chip but its deep it had to be something hard..

tomorrow I'll ask the S.A if anyone took the car out for a test drive after the alignment

A wet windshield probably hid the fact that it was cracked until it was dry.

I would just get it repaired and go on with life. Most repairs are free through insurance co's or buy a kit from your local autoparts and do it yourself. Pretty easy to do with ok results.

If I was a SA and a customer said to fix this because you did it I would place that customer on the "give ****ty service list".

It may have happened weeks ago and went unnoticed. Make yourself look like el-cheapo with the dealer and good luck with keeping a good reputation and respect after that.

I will get it repaired and not trying to be el cheapo, you have to be very stupid to have a crack on your windshield in front of your face for weeks, unless your are in your 80's and you have vision problems but I'm 33 and mine is pretty good
