Hey guys,

I've had the opportunity to review the latest 2016 Porsche Carrera that features the all new 3.0L turbo engine.

Car definitely has some nice touches- rear end especially. I think the real benefit with the 991.2 is the base Carrera- big improvement.

 

I agree, the Carrera has come a long way now and wow, you can really settle with the base model as it has advanced especially when compared to the previous generations.

 

My 2008 Carrera was 325 hp/ 273 ft-lb of torque with a 6-speed manual, 3.6 liter engine. Std suspension, no PASM. It was quick (4.8 sec to 60 mph), but my 997S with the 385 hp / 310 ft-lb was a very big leap.


Now with the base model you have a pretty flat torque curve, 370 hp/332 ft-lb I believe, with PASM. I bet it's quicker than my 997S was, plus the wider front track and wider rear tires. And I like the rear end on that thing. Fitted with a PDK and sport chrono, it would be a very nice track machine.


Porsche is good at building turbo engines. Part of me has good memories of my Panny turbo. Good job Porsche.

 

BTW man, good review. Nice to see people with passion doing Porsche reviews. I hope to publish one of my own someday (of my GTS, of course).

I'm pretty sure the black plastic lip on the front is the same as on the 991.1. It sure looks a lot like mine.

 

My favorite part. You can really bring the German out. Like third reich German!
