All good in L.A.

So far, loving the streets of Los Angeles. As some of you know, my wife and I relocated to LA in the beginning of March. We drove her Cayenne across the country, and that was an amazingly fun trip, and had my GTS shipped with our household furnishings. Well, the GTS arrived 3 weeks ago and I have been driving it pretty much since. It seems chin shapes are unavoidable...I check d-in with Porsche of Beverly Hills for a software update and inquired with my service person about what owners do regarding this phenomenon. He confirmed that chin scrapes are unavoidable and that owners usually wait until their deflector chins are fairly scraped up before having them repainted. In Maryland, that cost is around $500...here in LA, it's about $750. Speaking of things costing more in LA, my insurance for the GTS and Cayenne doubled...when I asked GEICO (with whom I've been insured for over 22 years) they said it's because it's LA. So, when it comes time to register these vehicles, I'll be using my mother-in-law's address in Palm Desert. Anyway, the streets have been very friendly to me so far. Not as many potholes as in suburban D.C. Although riding in Sport Plus I seldom get to third gear...but the weather has been great!

Wait till you get your registration renewal, I'm sure it's going to be A LOT more than it was in Maryland. If you ever need a shop for anything in LA, we are located right off the 405 at the Western exit.

Glad it's all going well. Don't worry too much about the scrapes; as Suncoast pointed out above, it's probably cheaper to order a brand-new lip and have it painted at an indie shop. Lots of track rats do this with their 911s.

Great advice! Thanks. I'm going to just enjoy and not worry about it.

Have fun in L.A. It's car heaven. Don't miss Woodland Hills Supercar Sunday. I miss Los Angeles but I visit often since I have relatives there.
That's true about insurance. Mine was reduced in half when I moved here in the Midwest 15 years ago. BTW Porsches are at home in LA, lots of them around!
