991.1 Horn malfunction after steering wheel swap

After doing the swap of my 991.1 C4 PDK multifunction Steering wheel from Beige to Black I see everything is working fine excepting the horn. I followed this post:

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...l-991-a-2.html

When I press normally the airbag I have no horn. If I press more intensively horn continously activates, so I need to turn off the car.

I have checked the airbag assembly but the problem continues.

I have asked the person from Germany who sold me the airbag via ebay:

He answered me: The horn does not depend on the steering wheel but the airbag

He have sent me four pictures (I attached below) explaining me I need to check a magnet inside the airbag so I need to remove four screws. He says the magnet is not properly adapted.

I honestly prefer to contrast this information here before doing any intervention in my airbag. I really don´t know if that is the solution and even the risks of opening the airbag.

Any help?
Many thanks

Enrique

It sounds like a spacing issue.
And when the magnet finally makes contact, it seems to stick or slip and then gets stuck..

Remember that the Porsche horn is horrible. There is far too much pressure required to make contact to activate the horn.

It seems that your magnets are moving just enough to create the problem.

Happened to me

This happened to me. Oddly it was fine for a week and happened to malfunction while I had it at the dealer. The mechanic messed with it for about 20 minutes and fixed it. Apparently the cord that attaches can only be put in one way or it causes the horn button/airbag to bind. After fiddling with it he got the cord in correctly and all was well.

Hi!
I am sorry but I don't understand you. Do you mean your problem was not the magnet inside the airbag but one malpositioned cord? What cord?
thanks

Cord

It is the cord that attaches to horn airbag and gets ticket behind it when you slide horn airbag in. Apparently it can only go one way and if it does not go exactly that way everyhing binds. I replaced the stock wheel with the sport design version and the horn button did slide in but did not have that kind of bounce feel a horn should have.

Same exact symptoms

This has to be the same thing hard to depress horn and the. Horn sticks. Mechanic had to take it in and out like 10 times to get it right.

Just an FYI I didn’t change my steering wheel but I can relate to the sticking horn. Mine did this though I don’t know how the dealer fixed it, the horn doesn’t stick anymore.
