Going back to Porsche..recent model advice
Hi,
It's been a while since I was active on these forums. I sold my 2012.5 991 base a long time ago and had an R8 and SHelby gt350 along the way. I've been thinking about going back to a 991 for a bit now and my lovely wife just told me to "go get it".
That said, I'm used to NA power. I'm hesitating to purchase the new turbo models. I'm currently interested in a 17 base with a color combo thats growing on me. I know I can wait it out and that the market for all used cars is elevated now, so I might do better price wise if I wait 6mos.
I don't need a car now as Ive been working from home for like 9 months, so there's no rush, until there is when I find the perfect setup....
Regarding the 17's and the new turbo engine, what should I be wary of? What should I look for?
I'm more than aware that even CPO models can have an accident history the dealer may choose not to disclose. I'm looking in the SF Bay Area and I've bought from michael stead and Fletcher Jones. I was very happy with the latter. Are there dealers you would say I should definitely avoid? Would you still get a PPI on a CPO car?
All advice is appreciated.
Thanks,

There are no issues with the turbo models, other than some reports of failing / leaking water pumps.
If I were in your enviable position, I would go for a late model NA GTS.

Or you could go completely nuts with something like this...

Thanks for the feedback that last one’s bit outside my budget I’m trying to keep things under 90. I’m looking at a couple of base carreras today and I’ll get a sense for how they drive and perform and go from there.
.2 base cars are surprisingly quick and don't suffer from the typical turbo lag. I have a 2017 base coupe. I think you'll be impressed.
Thanks, yes, I was pleasantly surprised. Overall, the power without the boosting pushing the car is impressive. I've been on some nice drives in the last two weeks.
