Fault of Soft Top Control System
Fault of Soft Top Control System - Top won't go up or down. Need help!
I haven't seen any posts since 2013 so giving this a try....I have a 2012 991.1 and I am experiencing an issue with the convertible top. I lowered it while driving (around 20mph) as I approached a red light. I was unable to get the windscreen up so I pulled the switch to make sure it was lowered. The windscreen then came up and everything was normal. After making a stop and starting the car again, I got a “top is not in finished position” alert. When I pulled the switch again I got the “ fault of the soft-top control system” alert.
After calling around to a Porsche dealer and some Indy shops, no one seems to have any clues. I got a “give us a few hours and we might be able to come up with something” response. I have searched the forums and Google and can’t seem to find anything relevant.
Hoping someone has had this happen and has a definitive roadmap for a resolution that doesn’t require $100’s wasted on digging around and not having an answer.
I realize that owning a Porsche requires more $ than normal for maintenance but I also don’t want to throw a bunch of money and not have a definitive resolution.
I followed the emergency protocol to raise the top so that I can still drive it. I am going to store it for the winter and hopefully I can find a good roadmap to follow by Spring. If possible I would like to get the parts and do the work myself, I like good challenge.
Looking for help, not dumb comments so please save those for someone else. To those that do have some real answers, thanks in advance.

Hey, I have the same issue on my 2012 C2S cab. Were you able to fix your problem? In my case, the system froze just as I was opening it - the engine cover had rise, the main latch hook had opened, then snapping sounds and everything froze. My engine cover is stuck open and I'm now getting the "Fault of the soft-top control system" error. Any help from your experience would be highly appreciated.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Mine ended up being the Windscreen. It got bent and wouldn’t allow it to open or close. Had to have that whole thing replaced. Works great now. Hope this helps and you can find a fix.
Thanks - I have not solved my problem yet, but was able to close everything manually, and the hydraulic reservoir is full too, so I'm hoping it's something minor or electrical.
