Hi everyone, Im new to the forum, I do not own a porsche 993 yet, but I am in the market for one, Im going to be checking out a 1997 Porsche 993 Targa this weekend with 75k miles, the seller is asking around $28k, w/ minor mods, fabspeed exhaust, lowered suspension and chipped, he says overall the car runs like a clock, but the paint on the front bumper is starting to crack, and the electric door locks don't pop open, you would have to manually unlock the doors. But what do you guys think? is it still a deal? thanks in advance guys!

 

The price seems great, but you have to have it all checked out. Get a PPI and also see about the imobilizer since the key needs to be used to manually open the car. Is this the targa on craigslist local here in the bay? If so, he has it advertised as a WB, it's a NB.

Sorry michael, i'll pass on the 350z, there's just something about the 993's timeless bodylines that I absolutely love.

That is a hell of a good price! Maybe the owner knows of some issues the car has, that price is way low!!!

BTW:PPI is pre purchase inspection. Get it done by an independent service shop that specializes in p-cars.

WOW, that is CHEAP!!! Targa's usually go a little more.

Get a PPI done! With this low price, either you got a desperate seller, or a couple of big repairs.

I think he either sold the car or something, I tried meeting him up this weekend, but didn't answer any of my phone calls anymore nor did he respond to my voicemails, oh well, I'm kinda bummed, but I guess it just wasnt ment to be, i'll just keep searching, thanks for the input guys!

 

Saw that posting deleted. As for the targa, what the others said. Targas are great, but if the roof hasn't been taken cared of, be prepped to research for a specialist, and to potentially spend major $$$. They are, however, a rarity, and a treat to many.

As for the 350z comment....lol....I actually replaced a 350z with the 993. Not even a fair comparison. They are such different vehicles....
