New to me 993
New to me 993
I recently found a very clean, 1 owner, low mile (32k) 993 C4S. I was fortunate enough to be able to make a deal trading in my 1990 C2 964 Cabrio. (Seen in backround)
We swapped cars last weekend and I cannot wipe the grin off my face !
The question I have for you guys is this:
The finish on the calipers has been damaged, probably by wheel cleaner and it is no longer gloss, it is a streaky flat red finish. Can anything be done short of replacement?

You can get your brakes looking good again by either painting them yourself or having them sent out to a powder coater to be refinished.
Obviously, you need to remove them to go the powdercoat route, but if you choose to re-paint you can actually do a really nice job with the car on 4 jackstands and calipers still on the car.
"porsche" decals can be had on ebay which work well after either method above if covered with a few light coats of spray-on, high temp clear coat.
Welcome to the 993 world, sounds like a great car. I'm not on this site often, be sure to check out the very active 993 forum on Rennlist.com.

Looks like you did good! I miss my C4S. I've had three 993s and they are great cars.
I'll second the advice on the calipers. Clean them up good and hand paint them yourself. You can use "hot" paint or just Rustoleum Gloss Red works fine.
Stock suspension? With that mileage, could be original. Front looks a little high....like stock.
Congrats!

Thanks for the advice on the calipers, I am a member at Rennlist, just couldn't remember my password and it's set to an old email address!
The car is Completely Stock! Soooo mods will come along in time.

You can paint the calipers yourself but if you ever track the car the paint may peel due to the excessive heat. Having them powdercoated is expensive but if you plan to keep it you wont have to touch it up. Lots of fun project await.
